Guild Wars 2 event timer

A live Guild Wars 2 event timer covering world bosses and map metas across all of Tyria — the core world bosses, every expansion from Heart of Thorns to Visions of Eternity, the timed Living World metas, and the Eye of the North public bosses. World bosses and map metas are Tyria's biggest open-world events, and they run on synchronised two- and three-hour cycles — so whether you're a new player chasing your first Tequatl or a veteran running a daily boss train, a timer lets you plan your session and never miss a reward chest. It shows what's up right now and a countdown to the next one, in your own local time. Everything runs on a fixed daily schedule, so this is just a clock: no login and no API key needed. Switch between the world-boss and meta-event timers — or see everything at once — filter by release with the tabs, and use it to plan a boss train or catch Tequatl, the Octovine, Soo-Won and the rest before the chest closes.

How the GW2 event timer works

No account or API key needed

Guild Wars 2 world bosses spawn on a fixed daily rotation tied to UTC, not to any server you're on. Because every megaserver instance shares that same clock, a timer doesn't need to read the game at all — it just compares the current time to the published schedule. That's why this page works instantly in your browser with no account, no API key and no waiting on a server. The whole rotation is a 24-hour cycle that resets at 00:00 UTC, so the timer always reflects the current day's schedule.

Reading and filtering the timer

Most of the world bosses run on a two- or three-hour cycle, staggered fifteen minutes apart so there's almost always one about to start somewhere in Tyria. The three large "hardcore" bosses — Tequatl the Sunless, the Triple Trouble wurm and the Karka Queen — sit on their own fixed times and reward organised groups. The expansion and Living World map metas run on their own two-hour loops, from the Heart of Thorns maps (Dragon's Stand, the Octovine, the Chak Gerent, the Verdant Brink night) through Path of Fire, the Icebrood Saga, End of Dragons' Dragon's End and the Soo-Won fight, Secrets of the Obscure, Janthir Wilds and Visions of Eternity — plus the Eye of the North public bosses like Dragonstorm. Use the tabs to filter by release; the timer converts everything to your local clock and counts down live, with anything currently up floating to the top under a gold marker. Switch to the World bosses or Meta events timer to focus on one kind, or leave it on All to see everything in a single list.

The headline metas span the whole game: the Chak Gerent in Tangled Depths and the Battle for the Jade Sea against Soo-Won, the Aetherblade Assault in Seitung Province, Buried Treasure in the Desert Highlands, the Path to Ascension at Augury Rock, the defence of the Wizard's Tower and Amnytas, and A Titanic Voyage out in the Janthir isles. Each runs on the same fixed loop, so you always know how long until the next one.

Want the full picture in game? You can open the in-game event panel with /wiki et, but the schedule here is the same one — just easier to glance at from your phone or second monitor. Community event-timer sites sync to the same in-game clock too, so use whichever fits your setup.

Guild Wars 2 world boss spawn times

Here's when the most-hunted Guild Wars 2 world bosses and events spawn, in UTC — the live timer above converts these to your local time and counts them down for you. World bosses share one global rotation, so these event timers read the same for every player; only your local clock changes.

World boss spotlights

Great Jungle Wurm

The Great Jungle Wurm rises in Caledon Forest every two hours at :15 past the odd hour (01:15, 03:15 UTC…). It's a quick, beginner-friendly tag — not to be confused with Triple Trouble, the three-headed great jungle wurm in Bloodtide Coast that needs a coordinated map.

The Frozen Maw (Svanir Shaman Chief)

The Frozen Maw event, where you put down the Svanir Shaman Chief, runs in Wayfarer Foothills every two hours at :15 past the even hour (00:15, 02:15 UTC…) — one of the fastest world bosses in the game.

Fire Elemental

The Fire Elemental erupts from the C.L.E.A.N. 5000 in Metrica Province every two hours at :45 (00:45, 02:45 UTC…), making it an easy target for a brand-new character.

Golem Mark II

The Inquest's Golem Mark II powers up in Mount Maelstrom every three hours on the hour (02:00, 05:00, 08:00 UTC…). The Golem Mark II shields itself between phases, so bring a little crowd control.

Claw of Jormag

The Claw of Jormag descends on Frostgorge Sound every three hours at :30 (02:30, 05:30, 08:30 UTC…), opening with a long ranged phase before the dragon champion lands.

Karka Queen

The Karka Queen is a hardcore boss on her own fixed schedule in Southsun Cove — 02:00, 06:00, 10:30, 15:00, 18:00 and 23:00 UTC — and rewards an organised map with a Hero's Choice Chest.

Expansion and roaming events

Buried Treasure

The Search for Buried Treasure runs in the Desert Highlands (Path of Fire) every two hours on the hour (01:00, 03:00 UTC…) — a short dig-and-defend event that slots neatly into a meta train.

Ley-Line Anomaly

The Legendary Ley-Line Anomaly doesn't keep a single fixed slot; it rotates between Timberline Falls, Iron Marches and Gendarran Fields, so the in-game event panel is the surest way to catch the current Ley-Line Anomaly.

FAQ

Event timer questions, answered

What is the Guild Wars 2 event timer?

The Guild Wars 2 event timer is a live schedule of every timed world boss and map meta across Tyria. It shows which events are up right now and counts down to the next one in your local time. They run on a fixed daily rotation, so the timer is just a clock — no login or API key needed.

How often do world bosses spawn in Guild Wars 2?

Most world bosses run on a two- or three-hour cycle, staggered so that one spawns roughly every fifteen minutes somewhere in Tyria. The large hardcore bosses — Tequatl the Sunless, Triple Trouble and the Karka Queen — run on their own fixed daily times instead.

When does Tequatl spawn?

Tequatl the Sunless spawns six times a day in Sparkfly Fen, at 00:00, 03:00, 07:00, 11:30, 16:00 and 19:00 UTC. The timer above converts those to your local time and counts down to the next one.

Are world boss spawn times the same for everyone?

Yes. Guild Wars 2 uses megaservers, and the world boss schedule is one fixed UTC rotation for every player worldwide — only your local clock time differs. That is exactly why a simple timer works without ever connecting to your account.

What time zone does the timer use?

The timer auto-detects your device's time zone and shows every spawn in your local time with a live countdown. Under the hood the schedule is fixed in UTC, so it stays correct wherever you are. Guild Wars 2 itself keeps server time in UTC, so the game's server time and the timer's underlying schedule are the same thing — only your local display differs.

Does it cover meta event timers too?

Yes. Alongside the core-Tyria world bosses, the timer covers the map metas from every expansion and the timed Living World metas — Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, the Icebrood Saga, End of Dragons (including Dragon's End and the Soo-Won fight), Secrets of the Obscure, Janthir Wilds and Visions of Eternity — plus the Eye of the North public bosses such as Dragonstorm. Use the release tabs to filter. A few maps, mostly Living World Season 3, run continuously with no global timer, so they aren't listed.

Which world bosses are in the rotation?

The core rotation runs Admiral Taidha Covington, the Svanir Shaman Chief (the Frozen Maw), the Megadestroyer, the Fire Elemental, the Shatterer, the Great Jungle Wurm, Modniir Ulgoth, the Shadow Behemoth, the Golem Mark II and the Claw of Jormag, plus the three hardcore bosses — Tequatl the Sunless, the Triple Trouble wurm and the Karka Queen. Each appears in a fixed zone, so the Shadow Behemoth is always in Queensdale and the Frozen Maw in Wayfarer Foothills, and the timer counts down to whichever is next.

Can the timer alert me before an event?

Yes. Tap the bell next to any event and the timer plays a sound two minutes before it starts and again at spawn, and flashes the browser tab so you don't miss it. Your picks are saved on your device, so they're still set next time you visit — just keep the tab open. Use the Test sound button to check your audio first.

Why are some events not on the timer?

A few events don't sit on a single fixed clock. The Ley-Line Anomaly rotates between zones instead of running at a set time, the Orr temple events such as the Temple of Dwayna and most Living World Season 3 maps run continuously, and your daily achievements follow the in-game daily reset. For those, the in-game event panel — opened with the /wiki et command — and today's daily achievements list are the best reference.
