Depresso No. 016

Dark Size XS Not rideable Night
◇ Rarity · Common — "Several Sleepless Nights Later"

Depresso is the Dark Pal at No. 016 — a slumped little koala with a permanent thousand-yard stare. Behind the gag it is a real early Handiwork + Mining worker, and it only comes out at night.

Partner skill
Caffeine Inoculation — when activated, Depresso chugs an entire energy drink, increasing its Movement Speed and Work Speed by 100~900%. It buffs itself, not the party — a genuinely strong burst on a Common Pal.

Depresso is nocturnal — it only spawns at night. Its home range is the Sea Breeze Archipelago (the starting island chain), and it also appears at scattered points further out. Neutral temperament: it fights back only if you start it.

It appears as an Alpha inside Hillside Cavern and Isolated Island Cavern (~Lv 13), and hatches from a Dark Egg.

Stats & how they vary

HP70
Attack70
Defense70
Work speed100

Melee 70, Shot 70; Running Speed 300 (slower than most — it is a koala, not a sprinter). Game8 ranks it near the floor across the board (HP #180, Attack #182, Defense #173). The stats are the joke and the point: Depresso is not a combatant. Everything good about it is the work suitabilities and the caffeine burst. Type matchup. Dark is strong against Neutral and weak to Dragon — it takes no extra damage from most early threats, but a Dragon Pal shreds it.

Work & drops

Work suitabilities
Handiwork Lv 1Mining Lv 1Transporting Lv 1

A useful early spread on one body: Handiwork crafts at your benches, Mining breaks ore and stone, Transporting hauls goods to storage. A base with a Depresso covers three chores you feel in the first ten levels — and Caffeine Inoculation lets it burst through a backlog. palworld.gg also lists Farming Lv 1.

Drops
Venom Gland

Venom Gland ×2–3, every time (100%). It feeds early poison arrows and traps, so Depresso doubles as a Venom Gland farm — especially on the Ranch.

Partner skill: Caffeine Inoculation

Most partner skills buff the party. This one buffs the Depresso you are carrying.

Self-buffMove Speed and Work Speed both spike for the duration — it is a burst worker.
Magnitudepalworld.gg lists 100~900% by level; Game8’s older table reads roughly 1.5× → 10× movement. One of the bigger single-Pal speed buffs this early.
Ranch bonusSometimes drops Venom Gland when assigned to the Ranch — passive income on top of its work.

Active skills

A Dark kit with a couple of off-element detours. Values from palworld.gg (post-1.0); Game8/trainer list lower numbers and stop at Lv 50.

Lv 1Poison Blast (Dark, 30) — spits a blob of corrosive poison.
Lv 7Bog Blast (Ground, 40) — flings sticky mud that slows.
Lv 15Dark Ball (Dark, 50) — lobs a sphere of shadow.
Lv 22Ice Missile (Ice, 40) — fires a missile of ice.
Lv 30Shadow Burst (Dark, 80) — erupts shadow at close range.
Lv 40Nightmare Ball (Dark, 300) — hurls a heavy orb of nightmares.
Lv 50Dark Laser (Dark, 450) — sweeps a beam of dark energy.
Lv 70Dark Whisp (Dark, 600) — summons a storm of dark wisps.

How to get more Depresso

Depresso hatches from a Dark Egg and, as a common Dark Pal, comes out of many pairings — there is no unique combination gating it.

The honest early advice: catch it at night in the Sea Breeze Archipelago. It is common and cheap — faster than lining up a breeding pair.

The story of Depresso

"It has few friends because of the perpetually grouchy look on its face, but it is in fact kindhearted. Some have seen it feeding Vixy who have strayed from their pack."

The sweetest entry in the early Paldeck hiding behind the grimmest face. Depresso looks miserable and is secretly the one leaving food out for lost Vixy. "Several Sleepless Nights Later" is the title; the energy drink is the coping mechanism; and it still looks after somebody else’s stray.

Field notes
— from the log of a Pal keeper

Day 6 (night). Found something that looked exactly how I felt. Caught it out of solidarity.

Day 7. Handed it a hammer. It crafts. Handed it a pickaxe. It mines. Did not expect the sad koala to be the most employable Pal I own.

Day 10. Used its partner skill and it downed an energy drink and sprinted. Went back to slumping immediately after.

Day 15. Caught it leaving berries near a Vixy den. The Paldeck was not lying. I feel bad about the hammer now.
