Lifmunk
Where to catch Lifmunk in Palworld, what Lifmunk Effigies do, plus base stats, five work suitabilities, the submachine-gun partner skill, active skills and drops.
Lifmunk No. 004
Lifmunk is the Grass-element squirrel at No. 004 — a clever little starter that works five different jobs and, once you build its harness, rides on your head firing a submachine gun. Yes, really.
Where to catch Lifmunk
Lifmunk is all over the early grasslands — the Windswept Hills and Plateau of Beginnings, with more around the Sea Breeze Archipelago and Bamboo Groves. It appears day and night.
Nothing special to catching it: weaken one with a hit or two and throw a regular Pal Sphere. As a very common Pal it's usually easier to catch than to breed.
Region: Windswept Hills / Plateau of Beginnings · Time: day & night · Sphere: regular · Threat: low
Stats & how they vary
Base values before IVs and condensing. A slightly chunkier 75 HP, but Lifmunk earns its place at your base, not in the arena.
Work & drops
Five level-1 suitabilities make Lifmunk the most versatile worker in the opening hours — and its Medicine Production is genuinely rare to have this early.
Berry Seeds to start your first plantation, and the occasional Low Grade Medical Supplies (about a 1-in-5 drop) — handy before you can craft your own.
Active skills
Lifmunk leans on its Grass moves as it levels, from a quick wind blade up to a full solar beam.
Lifmunk Effigies
Lifmunk's biggest footprint isn't the Pal — it's the statues. As of Palworld 1.0, the green glowing statues are part of the broader Pal Effigy system: you now collect effigies of various Pals, not just Lifmunk, to boost your stats. Any Lifmunk Effigies you'd already picked up carry over unchanged, and the classic ones — tucked against walls, hidden in dungeons, or sitting out at landmarks — are still the ones you'll trip over first.
Offering effigies at a Statue of Power boosts your capture rate — making every other Pal easier to catch — and 1.0 folds this into a wider stat-enhancement system. Grabbing them as you explore is still one of the best early upgrades in the game.
The story of Lifmunk
The Paldeck rates Lifmunk about as clever as a small child and a wonderful companion — with one unsettling footnote: there are more than a few reports of a Lifmunk turning on its owner once it worked out how to use a weapon. Its partner skill, fittingly, hands it a gun.
Paraphrased from Lifmunk's in-game Paldeck entry.
Day 4. Lifmunk reorganised my entire storage chest while I slept. Everything is sorted by colour now. I do not dare change it back.
Day 13. Built the harness. It now rides my head into fights and empties a submachine gun over my shoulder. We do not talk about the Paldeck warning. We are friends.
Day 21. Caught it turning in Lifmunk Effigies at the shrine and swear it looked smug that the statues are named after it. Fair enough, honestly.
Lifmunk, answered
Where do you catch Lifmunk?
The Windswept Hills and Plateau of Beginnings starting grasslands, plus around Sea Breeze Archipelago and the Bamboo Groves — day or night. Weaken it and throw a Pal Sphere; no special trick needed.
What is Lifmunk's partner skill?
Lifmunk Recoil — it perches on your head and fires a submachine gun to back up your attacks. Unlocking it also gives you the craftable Lifmunk's Submachine Gun.
Is Lifmunk good?
For early base work, excellent — five level-1 suitabilities including rare Medicine Production. In combat it's average, but a Grass starter that helps plant, build, gather, log and make meds more than earns its keep.
What are Lifmunk Effigies?
Green, glowing statues found throughout the game world. In Palworld 1.0 they're part of the broader Pal Effigy system — you collect effigies of various Pals, not only Lifmunk — but the Lifmunk ones are still the classic, most common find. Offer them at a Statue of Power to raise your Pal-catching power (and boost your stats), making every other Pal easier to catch. Effigies collected before 1.0 carry over.
How do you get more Lifmunk?
Catching is fastest — Lifmunk is one of the most common early Pals and travels in teams, so a bunch is quick to gather around the Windswept Hills. Breed (Lifmunk + Lifmunk, or early pairs like Cattiva + Foxparks) only to pass on strong passive skills.
Can you ride Lifmunk?
No, it isn't a mount — but its harness lets it ride you, firing a submachine gun over your shoulder.
