Mau — Palworld Paldeck No. 027
How to get Mau in Palworld (dungeon-only), why its Gold Digger ranch skill is the cleanest early income, plus stats, skills, drops and breeding. Built on 1.0.
Mau No. 027
Mau is the Dark-element Pal at No. 027 — a small cat that, set in a Ranch, quietly digs up Gold Coins for you. It's the cleanest hands-off income in the early game, and gold is what buys the things you'd rather not grind for.
Where to catch Mau
Here's the catch beginners miss: Mau doesn't spawn in the overworld. It's a dungeon Pal — find it inside the Hillside Cavern and the Ravine Grotto, where it also turns up as a possible Alpha boss.
As a Dark Pal it's active through the night. Weaken one and throw a regular Pal Sphere.
Where: dungeons only (Hillside Cavern) · Time: active at night · Sphere: regular · Threat: low
Stats & how they vary
Base values before IVs, passives and condensing. A flat 70/70/70 line — Mau isn't here to fight. Its whole value sits in the Ranch.
Work & drops
Gathering and Farming at Lv 1, but you're not catching Mau for either — you're catching it for Gold Digger. Ranch duty is its real job.
Leather and, fittingly, a pile of Gold Coins — Mau pays out even when defeated.
Partner skill: Gold Digger
Not a fighter, not a worker — a small, reliable stream of money.
Active skills
Mau learns its attack kit as it levels — skill text straight from the game:
The story of Mau
Mau is a small, secretive thing that seems to conjure coins from the dark of a cave, which has made it a favourite of anyone short on money — that is to say, everyone. Nobody's quite sure where the gold comes from. Mau isn't telling. It simply digs, and pays, and slips back into the shadows it prefers.
Paraphrased from Mau's in-game Paldeck entry.
Day 6. Went into the Hillside Cavern for stone, came out with a cat that makes money. Best detour I've taken.
Day 12. Put it in the Ranch. Checked back an hour later to a small heap of coins and a very smug cat.
Day 23. I have three Mau now. The Ranch is basically a mint. I regret nothing.

Where do you find and catch Mau?
Here's the catch beginners miss: Mau doesn't spawn in the overworld. It's a dungeon Pal — find it inside the Hillside Cavern and the Ravine Grotto, where it also turns up as a possible Alpha boss. As a Dark Pal it's active through the night. Weaken one and throw a regular Pal Sphere.
What does Gold Digger do?
Sometimes digs up Gold Coin when assigned to a Ranch. That's the whole pitch, and it's a good one.
Is Mau good?
Early on, yes, for its role: Gathering and Farming at Lv 1, but you're not catching Mau for either — you're catching it for Gold Digger. Its stats are modest, so lean on the partner skill and trade up by midgame.
How do you breed Mau?
It has no unique combo — pairs like Chikipi with Cremis, or Lamball with Teafant produce it. Breed repeatedly to stack good passive skills onto one you like.
What does Mau drop?
It drops Leather and Gold Coin. Leather and, fittingly, a pile of Gold Coins — Mau pays out even when defeated.
Can you ride Mau?
No. Mau isn't a mount — it's a Ranch Pal that digs up Gold Coins. For an early ride, look at Direhowl or Rushoar.
