Nitewing — Palworld Paldeck No. 051
How to get Nitewing, the first flying mount in Palworld, incl. the low-level Ice Wind Island Alpha, plus stats, skills, drops and breeding. Built on 1.0.
Nitewing No. 051
Nitewing is the Neutral-element Pal at No. 051 — the first flying mount most players get their hands on. The moment you saddle one, Palworld stops being a game about walking uphill and becomes a game about going wherever you want.
Where to catch Nitewing
Nitewing glides over the Windswept Hills, Sea Breeze Archipelago and the Desiccated Dunes. The catch worth knowing: a low-level field Alpha sits on Ice Wind Island, north of the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant — the fastest early route to a flyer.
Bring something ranged to ground it, weaken it, and throw a regular Pal Sphere.
Region: Ice Wind Island (Alpha) · Time: day & night · Sphere: regular · Threat: low
Stats & how they vary
Base values before IVs, passives and condensing. A 100/95/80 line is strong for something you can catch this early — Nitewing is a real combatant, not just a taxi.
Work & drops
Gathering Lv 2 — a solid base job, but nobody catches a Nitewing for the ranch. You catch it to fly.
Leather, in useful quantity from a big Pal — the Alpha drops a good stack of it.
Partner skill: Travel Companion
There is a clear before-and-after in every playthrough, and it's the day you catch this.
Active skills
Nitewing learns its attack kit as it levels — skill text straight from the game:
The story of Nitewing
Nitewing rides the thermals over the whole starting stretch of the Palpagos Islands, rarely landing and rarely bothered by anything smaller than itself. It's not aggressive so much as indifferent — you are, at most, weather. Bonded to a rider, that same unhurried confidence becomes the steadiest set of wings a beginner could ask for.
Paraphrased from Nitewing's in-game Paldeck entry.
Day 9. Saw one circling Ice Wind Island and decided my life would not be complete without it. It was not complete for another two days.
Day 11. Got the Alpha down. First flight over the bay at sunset. I actually said 'oh' out loud, alone, to a bird.
Day 18. Have not touched the ground on purpose since. Ore, bosses, sightseeing — all of it, from the air. Best catch I've made.

Where do you find and catch Nitewing?
Nitewing glides over the Windswept Hills, Sea Breeze Archipelago and the Desiccated Dunes. The catch worth knowing: a low-level field Alpha sits on Ice Wind Island, north of the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant — the fastest early route to a flyer. Bring something ranged to ground it, weaken it, and throw a regular Pal Sphere.
What does Travel Companion do?
Can be ridden as a flying mount. Craft the Nitewing Saddle to unlock it.
Is Nitewing good?
Early on, yes, for its role: Gathering Lv 2 — a solid base job, but nobody catches a Nitewing for the ranch. Its stats are modest, so lean on the partner skill and trade up by midgame.
How do you breed Nitewing?
It has no unique combo — pairs like hatches from a Common Egg; e.g. Ribbuny Botan with Flopie produce it. Breed repeatedly to stack good passive skills onto one you like.
What does Nitewing drop?
It drops Leather. Leather, in useful quantity from a big Pal — the Alpha drops a good stack of it.
Can you ride Nitewing?
Yes — Nitewing is the classic first flying mount. Saddle it and you can fly freely, which is the single biggest quality-of-life jump in the early game.
