Woolwater makes a new patch of pasture a possible escape route
Place a few fences, redirect water and keep your sheep inside. Woolwater is a quiet logic puzzle about the consequences of changing a boundary.
A fence across a stream can give your sheep more room. It can also leave them a way out. Woolwater turns that awkward consequence into its central puzzle: the boundary you change may have been doing two jobs.
Each meadow gives you a small fence allowance and asks you to enclose a roomy pasture. Water helps form the edge, so you are working with the shape of the land as well as the barriers you place.
Fences change more than the enclosure
According to the official description, blocking a stream can dry out part of its channel. Ground that was inaccessible can become pasture, but an opening can appear along the same route. The useful question is whether the whole enclosure still holds after the water changes.
Bridges, sluice gates and portals add different ways to connect parts of the meadow. A bridge lets sheep cross water; a sluice changes its route. A portal can join distant areas that would otherwise need separate attention.

Room for the sheep, points for the pasture
Some layouts ask you to keep white and brown sheep together, while others require separate spaces. Certain puzzles need one fence arrangement to work at both low and high water. A solution therefore has to satisfy the particular meadow, rather than simply draw the biggest loop.
Pasture area, clover and golden apples help your score; bees reduce it. Reaching the target lets you continue, while chasing the maximum gives you a reason to revisit an enclosure. Undo and the absence of a timer make it a game to consider at your own pace.
Woolwater release and map editor
Almost Sensible develops and publishes Woolwater. It launched on Steam for Windows on 3 November 2026, with a map editor and Steam Workshop support for sharing layouts.
The official images show fence limits, water channels and chapter layouts. They do not establish how smoothly a particular water change plays out. This introduction is based on the store and those images, not a played review. The appeal is clearest for logic-puzzle players who enjoy revising one small placement until the whole arrangement works.
