Nivalis Nights — everything we know
Everything that’s known about Nivalis Nights, the cyberpunk life sim from ION LANDS — the studio behind Cloudpunk — in one place, updated as news drops. You start with a food stall in a district pushed to the brink by CorpSec crackdowns and a mysterious serial killer, and grow your business into restaurants and night clubs while the rest of your life happens around it. After five years, three delays and a rename, it launches on Steam on 29 September 2026 for Windows PC.
Nivalis Nights release date trailer
The release date trailer went out with the rename announcement on 30 June 2026, showing the city, its businesses, its residents and all the nightlife after dark.
Where things stand
Nivalis Nights news and updates
505 Games put out a new trailer, “Nivalis Nights — A Day In The Life”, on 4 September at 14:59 UTC. It walks through an ordinary day in the city rather than pitching the premise again. ION LANDS did not post a 4K cut of its own this time, and the studio’s channel still ends at the release date trailer from 30 June. The official account framed it on Bluesky the same minute, verbatim: “Your move to the city is just around the corner. Today, we’re giving you a peek at what a typical day in Nivalis Nights could look like. Will you rush to the top, or take it slow?” Worth noting for anyone watching the store page: the trailer was not posted as a Steam announcement and has not been added to the trailer carousel, which still lists a single movie. Release is unchanged at 29 September 2026.
The date is holding — Steam reads Sep 29, 2026 and counts down about four weeks — but there is still no price, no edition, no pre-order and no pre-load hint anywhere. Steam offers a wishlist button and nothing else, and 505 Games only says “Steam: September 29, 2026 / Epic Games: TBA”, so the Epic version remains undated. Figures of 24.99 to 34.99 dollars circulating in the Steam forum are player guesses with nothing behind them. What is settled is the technical side: Windows only, 16 GB of RAM and a 6 GB card at minimum, 8 GB recommended, 30 GB of space, and eleven languages with English the only one voiced.
With a month to go, Steam lists the game as unreleased with no price attached, no demo, and no Steam Deck compatibility rating. ION LANDS’ own FAQ is equally careful: it claims Windows PC only, does not claim native macOS support, and points readers at the store listing for anything newer. Fifty-nine Steam curators have the page on their radar.
505 Games and ION LANDS put out three short Q&A videos — what the game is, what you can do in it, and how you get around the city. It is the last structured look at Nivalis Nights before launch.
ION LANDS confirmed the game is now officially titled Nivalis Nights — new name, new logo, same cyberpunk life sim — and set a planned Steam release of 29 September 2026. A release date trailer went out alongside it. Creative director Marko Dieckmann framed the wait plainly: developing this game as an independent studio meant clearing hurdles the team had never faced, and he thanked the community for five years of patience.
Worth pinning down, because the wrong number is circulating: the date on the Steam listing, on the 505 Games product page and in ION LANDS’ own announcement is 29 September. Some coverage carries the 30th.
The May development update covered the final performance work on the city simulation, the realistic weather simulation, the UI and fishing, and put figures to the content for the first time: over 240 ingredients, 190 dishes, 100 quests, 620 pieces of furniture, more than 40 UI panels, over 10,000 world-state objects like tables and dishware, and more than 1,000 fish simulated at once.
The same post described the technical shape of the game. It runs on Unity, the world is built from voxels but pushes far higher polygon counts than a typical voxel game and leans hard on level-of-detail steps, and NPCs run through a custom streaming system with three tiers depending on whether they are outside your district, inside it but out of sight, or on screen. QA is split across an internal team, 505 Games’ team, and an external one.
ION LANDS answered community questions on the core loop, the story, side quests, property and transport — and settled the one readers ask most. Nivalis Nights is the same city as Cloudpunk, so players of both may notice familiar details and small connections, but the game is designed as a standalone experience. The studio also confirmed there is a defined main story with an ending, not an open-ended sandbox.
The January development update reported the voice work finally going into the build across more than 135 characters, which the studio described as adding a further layer of immersion. The same post acknowledged community frustration that no release date had been named yet.
ION LANDS delayed the game out of 2025 without naming a new date. The reason was a decision to expand the voiced cast from 32 characters to more than 135, covering roughly 200,000 words of dialogue — casting, recording and implementing that could not be done honestly on the old schedule. The studio said a firm date would follow before the end of the year. It did not; the date came eight months later.
A new trailer arrived with a second delay attached, moving the release to spring 2025. The studio’s reasoning stayed general — delivering the best possible experience was the highest priority — without the specifics that would come with the next slip.
The public got hands on the game for the first time at WASD x IGN in the Truman Brewery, deliberately scheduled into the post-gamescom window. The demo covered running a noodle bar, the relationship interface, fishing and a taxi ride across the city.
At the PC Gaming Show 2023 the game got its second trailer and, for the first time, a launch window. Nivalis was to arrive in 2024.
505 Games was confirmed as worldwide publisher and the first real trailer premiered at the PC Gaming Show 2022. No release date was attached.
ION LANDS announced the game through its own Steam post as plain “Nivalis” — a cyberpunk slice-of-life simulation for PC, with no publisher and no date. The Steam app ID from that day, 1488490, is still the one the page runs on.

What’s confirmed about Nivalis Nights
Here’s what ION LANDS, 505 Games and the Steam listing have actually put on the record — the city, the business loop, how you move around it, what the machine needs — with the open questions flagged at the end.
The city — Nivalis, under curfew
Nivalis is a vertical cyberpunk city that stretches from the ocean to the clouds, built out of voxels — the same blocky-but-dense look ION LANDS gave Cloudpunk, pushed much further here. Your corner of it is a district pushed to the brink: CorpSec crackdowns on one side, a mysterious serial killer nobody has caught on the other. Neon dreams are the pitch; the curfew is the price. That pressure is not set dressing — it produces the curfew, and the curfew cuts both ways. Staying home at night is the safe option while the killer plot runs. Going out is when the least legal parts of the game open up. A realistic weather system and day and night cycles run over the top and feed back into how the entire city behaves.
The business loop — noodle stand to nightclub
You start humble with a food stall and climb toward owning the city’s top restaurants and premier night clubs. What you manage grows with you: the pitch from 505 Games is that you manage businesses like restaurants, ramen stands or night clubs, so the ladder runs from a single noodle stand through managing bustling ramen bars to a full restaurant and even a nightclub. Behind all of it sits a supply chain — over 240 ingredients you can buy in, or grow your own ingredients for, and 190 dishes to put on a menu.
The economy has memory: buying repeatedly from the same vendor can unlock better prices, and certain events move the market. The daily choice ION LANDS keeps returning to is legally growing your ingredients or illegally sabotaging your rivals under cover of curfew, and the warning attached is explicit — what happens to them can happen to you. Ambition is the best weapon you have here, and your influence grows with every decision either way.
Getting around — and where you can go
There is no car to drive. You move between districts by HOVA hover taxi and by train, with a loading screen at each district boundary, and a central underground interchange called The Metro Hub ties the network together. What you do own is your own boat, and the docks are where you go when the pressure gets too high. Named districts so far include Seaside Boardwalk, a half-lawless harbour quarter the studio describes as somewhere you cannot call the police; Skyhigh Gardens, an elevated quarter of torii gates and hanging gardens reached by air taxi; and Calypso Island, where the detached houses are.
Life outside the business
You can own several properties at once — venues, apartments and houses spread across different districts — and decorate them from 620 pieces of furniture, including doing other people’s homes for them. Fishing is not a dice roll: over a thousand fish are simulated in the water at the same time, and the one you land is the one you were watching.
The other half of your simulated life is people. Nivalis is full of strange and diverse characters, and more than 130 of them carry a story of their own, so every day is a choice between growing the business and forging bonds with the city’s strange inhabitants. Navigating complex relationships is a system rather than flavour text: you form friendships, make enemies, and may well find love. Discover the stories behind the people you serve and they stop being customers. There are mini games to challenge that vibrant cast to and a high-stakes chess tournament to master. ION LANDS calls the result a unique simulation where your path is entirely up to you — and on the confirmed feature list, that is literally how you spend each day.
The Cloudpunk question
Same studio, same city. ION LANDS made Cloudpunk, and the studio has confirmed that Nivalis Nights is set in the same Nivalis — players of both may notice familiar details and small connections. It is explicitly designed as a standalone experience, so nothing here depends on having played Cloudpunk. Where Cloudpunk put you in a delivery hover above the city, this one puts you on the ground floor of it.
Five years, three delays, one rename
Nivalis was announced in May 2021 with no publisher and no date. 505 Games signed on in June 2022, a 2024 target arrived in June 2023, and that slipped to spring 2025, then out of 2025 entirely. The last delay is the one with a documented reason: ION LANDS expanded the voiced cast from 32 characters to more than 135 — roughly 200,000 words — and said that could not be recorded and implemented on the old schedule. The rename to Nivalis Nights and the 29 September date came together in June 2026.
What it needs to run
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, on a 64-bit processor. Minimum is 16 GB of RAM, a dedicated AMD or NVIDIA card with at least 6 GB of VRAM, DirectX 11 and 30 GB of storage. Recommended keeps the same RAM and storage but asks for 8 GB of VRAM and DirectX 12, and adds an SSD. A broadband connection is listed at both tiers even though the game is single-player.
Who Nivalis Nights is for
Single-player, PC-only for now, and priced at nothing anyone has confirmed — here’s who that suits, and who should wait for more.
- You liked Cloudpunk’s Nivalis and want to live in it rather than fly over it
- You want to manage restaurants and go fishing in the same save
- You play life sims to meet strange people, not to optimise a spreadsheet
- You are on Windows and happy on Steam
- You want co-op or multiplayer — Steam lists single-player only
- You are on console, Mac or waiting on a Steam Deck rating
- You need to know the price before you commit
- You want to drive the city yourself — transport is taxis, trains and a boat
If it’s the management half you’re here for rather than the neon, the colony-sim end of the genre is covered on our RimWorld hub. Still unconfirmed on this one: the price, the Epic Games Store date, any console version, a demo, a Steam Deck rating and native macOS support. This page updates the moment any of them lands.
Nivalis Nights questions, answered
What is Nivalis Nights?
A single-player cyberpunk life sim from ION LANDS, published by 505 Games. You build a business in the vertical city of Nivalis — from a noodle stand up to restaurants and night clubs — while navigating complex relationships, decorating apartments, fishing, exploring by boat and working around a curfew. It was announced in May 2021 as simply Nivalis.
When is the Nivalis Nights release date?
29 September 2026 on Steam. That is the date on the Steam listing, on the 505 Games product page and in ION LANDS’ own announcement of 30 June 2026. Some coverage carries 30 September instead; the three primary sources all say the 29th.
Is Nivalis Nights coming to PS5, Xbox or Switch?
No console version has been announced. The confirmed platform is Windows PC via Steam, with an Epic Games Store release listed as planned but with no date attached.
Is Nivalis Nights multiplayer or co-op?
No. Steam lists Nivalis Nights as single-player, alongside Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. No co-op or multiplayer mode has been announced.
How much does Nivalis Nights cost?
No price has been announced. The Steam page carries no price while the game is unreleased, and neither ION LANDS nor 505 Games has named one. Nothing suggests it is free.
Is Nivalis Nights connected to Cloudpunk?
Same studio, same city. ION LANDS has confirmed that Nivalis Nights is set in the same Nivalis as Cloudpunk, and that players of both may notice familiar details and small connections — but it is designed as a standalone experience. It is not a sequel, and you do not need to have played Cloudpunk.
Why did Nivalis Nights take so long?
Announced in May 2021, it slipped from 2024 to spring 2025 and then out of 2025 altogether. The documented reason for the last delay is voice acting: ION LANDS expanded the voiced cast from 32 characters to more than 135, roughly 200,000 words of dialogue, and said it could not be recorded and implemented on the old schedule.
Will it run on Steam Deck or macOS?
Neither is claimed. ION LANDS’ own FAQ states that native macOS support and a Steam Deck compatibility rating are not claimed, and points to the store listing for the current status. The only listed system requirements are for Windows 10 and 11.
