What Cult of the Yellow King is
You build a cult, buy generators and spread the Yellow King’s living mold. Cult of the Yellow King puts the familiar clicker loop inside cosmic horror: your upgrades cost more than a growing number, and the writing treats devotion as a gradual loss of yourself. Efficient management, terrible employer.
Progress unlocks fragments of the story, while prestige asks you to break your current run, choose an elder curse and start again. The attraction is that combination of incremental systems and grotesque art, rather than reflex combat or exploring a horror mansion.
Metaphor Games and Newmind Interactive released version 1.0 on 12 October 2026, after Early Access began on 12 December 2025. This is a full-release transition, not first availability. A separate Steam demo is listed; the official launch post confirms the transition.
