How Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest plays
Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest lets you make your own cat and take it into Clan life. You explore the Lake Territories, follow scents, hunt prey and take on quests that build your standing with the Clan. Materials gathered along the way can be used to craft items for your den, giving exploration a purpose beyond seeing familiar book locations.
Fights use a turn-based system, with battles of up to three against three and new combat moves to learn. You choose what your cats do on their turns rather than relying on quick attacks in real time. The story-driven Prophecy Mode sits alongside a Defender mode built around lasting through a run of encounters.
The online features need a closer look if you are buying it with a friend. Steam describes asynchronous Skirmish battles and visits to friends' camps, plus crafting help and gifts. That is not a shared open world where you explore together at the same time. The base game and the separately sold Prophecy Pack are also different purchases.
Worth a look if
You want Clan stories, a custom cat and turn-based battles in the Warrior Cats setting.
Check before buying
You expect real-time open-world co-op, or need settled mouse-and-keyboard controls immediately.
Release and launch updates
Bamtang Games developed the game and Trailmark Games publishes it. It released for Windows PC on Steam on 23 October 2026. The publisher has acknowledged control concerns and announced work on a better mouse-and-keyboard experience. That announcement is a plan, not proof the improvement is already installed: check the latest update before choosing how to play.
