Level 60 example · 31 Affliction / 20 DemonologyFOREVER talent snapshot 1.60.1.707555 November 2026 · not tested in game

This WoW Forever Affliction Warlock build is a level-60 example with 31 points in Affliction and 20 in Demonology. It combines continuing Shadow damage, channeled spells and a Voidwalker-focused support path. You manage the enemy’s effects, your demon and both your Health and Mana rather than treating the character as a list of unrelated damage buttons.

This guide is for players new to WoW or new to Affliction who want to understand ongoing damage, drain channels and demon control. A build is the set of talent improvements you choose. DoT means damage over time: damage arriving in repeated ticks rather than one immediate hit. I checked this allocation against the saved FOREVER rules, but have not tested it in game or proved an optimal damage rotation.

What playing an Affliction Warlock in WoW Forever is like

Some attacks continue after you apply them; others require you to keep casting. Your demon adds another active part of the fight, and Life Tap makes resource management a Health decision as well as a Mana decision.

  • Apply and understand continuing effects. Corruption and a Bane can keep damaging a target over time. Their names and restrictions matter; this reference uses Bane of Agony rather than silently substituting a different-version spell name.
  • Make room to channel. Wrack and the named drain spells require channeling, meaning you keep performing the action over time. They are not all apply-once effects you can leave running while doing anything else.
  • Look after your demon and yourself. The selected support points favor a Voidwalker. A demon can help manage attention, but it does not guarantee that every enemy will ignore you.

This style may suit you if you enjoy setting up effects and watching several connected parts of a fight. The build’s demon and sustain choices are educational tradeoffs, not a claim that this is the fastest way to level or the strongest raid setup.

Affliction Warlock talent calculator: try the build

This example uses 51 talent points: 31 Affliction / 20 Demonology. It assumes the standard level-60 point budget without extra Legacy talent-point modifiers. A talent rank is a point invested in an improvement; a spell rank is a recorded version of an ability. They are different things.

Wrack is the 31-point capstone in this Affliction talent tree: it requires 30 points already spent in Affliction and the Siphon Life prerequisite before you invest the point in Wrack.

Click a talent to read its effect, then use the plus and minus controls to change your points. The planner checks recorded rank limits, tree-spending gates and prerequisite talents. You can start empty, reload this example or save your own allocation. The complete table remains readable without the planner.

Why these Affliction talents are here

Corruption, Banes and the Shadow damage setup

Improved Corruption changes Corruption’s casting time and damage, with the selected rank making its recorded cast instant. Improved Bane of Agony supports that named Bane, while Siphon Life provides a continuing Health-transfer effect. These are specific effects to track on the enemy rather than one universal DoT button.

Only one Bane from you can affect a given target in the recorded description. That does not mean only one harmful spell of any kind can be active, and it should not be confused with a separate Curse restriction.

Grim Reach extends Affliction spell range. It does not establish that Shadow Bolt receives the same extension. Suppression improves chance to hit and reduces the threat you generate. Threat is the attention your actions build with an enemy; it still matters when a demon or another player is meant to keep that enemy occupied.

Wrack, drains and the need to keep channeling

Wrack is a channeled attack that also increases the damage the target takes from your other Shadow damage-over-time effects by 10% in this captured description. The relationship is to your other effects on that enemy, not a blanket boost to every ally’s Shadow damage.

Soul Siphon improves its named drain spells and Wrack according to your other Affliction effects on the target, with a cap. Improved Drains supports the named drains, while Shadow Mastery improves your Shadow damage or life drain. These descriptions do not permit an unlimited multiplier from repeatedly counting every possible effect.

Drain Life and Drain Soul also require channeling. The full saved spell records preserve that property even where a simplified effect summary does not. An exact Wrack base-damage number is not used here because the selected talent and class-spell records retain different source contexts.

What should I do when Nightfall triggers?

At the selected 2/2 rank, Nightfall gives Corruption, Drain Soul, Drain Life and Wrack a 4% chance to grant Shadow Trance after damaging the opponent. A triggered temporary effect is often called a proc. Shadow Trance makes your next Shadow Bolt instant in the captured description. You still choose whether and when to cast it; the effect does not automatically launch a bolt or remove its Mana cost. If you are already channeling, decide whether to finish that channel or use the opening, rather than assuming every proc must interrupt your current action.

Does Pandemic double every damage tick?

No. At this build's 3/3 rank, Pandemic increases the critical-strike damage bonus of Corruption, Bane of Agony, Bane of Doom, Drain Soul, Drain Life, Siphon Life and Wrack by 100%. That is a change to the bonus on a critical result for those named spells. A critical strike is a hit with extra damage, and increasing its bonus is different from granting critical chance or proving that every ordinary tick doubles. Read the stated improvement without adding those extra assumptions.

Why the Demonology points favor a Voidwalker

At the selected 3/3 rank, Improved Voidwalker increases the effectiveness of Torment, Consume Shadows, Sacrifice and Suffering by 30%. Those four named abilities define the benefit; it is not a flat 30% increase to everything the demon does. At the selected 2/2 rank, Demonic Energies heals your pet for 15% of the spell damage you deal. When Life Tap gives you Mana, your summoned demon gains Mana equal to the amount you gain. The spell-damage healing goes to the pet, not to you; the Mana transfer is based on the gain, not your entire maximum Mana pool. Those give the supporting points a clear connection to the companion this guide teaches.

Unholy Power improves pet damage for its named demons, including this example's Voidwalker. Fel Vitality supports demon resources and your maximum Mana, while Demonic Embrace improves your Stamina. Demonic Aegis improves Demon Skin and Demon Armor; it is not a separate absorb shield.

This allocation replaces the explorer’s Improved Imp and Master Summoner points with the Voidwalker-related choices. Soul Link is not selected. Do not assume the character has damage-sharing protection simply because some points are in Demonology.

Affliction Warlock rotation: DoTs and drain channels

Begin with an enemy you can manage and a clear idea of what your demon should be doing. These situations explain the tools rather than prescribe a timed damage simulation or a universal spell order.

Start with your demon and target

Check that the companion is present and attacking the intended enemy. Apply the continuing effects relevant to that target and watch who the enemy is attacking. A damage-over-time setup does not prove you can safely ignore an opponent after the first cast.

You have an opening to channel

Wrack gives continuing damage while you channel and strengthens the named other Shadow DoTs on that target. Drain spells have their own purposes. Decide whether you can remain casting; moving to avoid danger is different from letting the channel finish.

You need Mana

When you cast Life Tap, you exchange your Health for Mana. The captured description for this build's 2/2 Improved Life Tap rank states a 20% increase to the Mana awarded. That improves the gain from this spell; it does not remove the Health cost or refill your whole Mana pool. Check your Health, the enemy’s pressure and whether help is available before treating it as a free refill.

Your Health or the demon’s Health is low

Drain Life and Siphon Life involve the target and your own recovery, while Health Funnel heals the demon at a cost to your Health and requires channeling. The different directions of that transfer matter. Demonic Energies is support, not a guarantee that the pet never needs attention.

You need control rather than another damage cast

Fear and demon abilities are separate tools with their own conditions. A control effect can be disrupted by damage or the surrounding fight. Do not assume it grants a safe, permanent period in which your continuing effects can do anything without consequences.

Demon abilities, crowd control and unknown learning levels

The Companions tab includes the saved demon abilities and their ranks. Voidwalker Torment and Suffering encourage enemies to attack it. Consume Shadows is an out-of-combat recovery tool. Sacrifice gives its owner an absorb shield by sacrificing the Voidwalker; it is not a free shield while retaining that same demon.

Other demons offer different tools. An Imp’s Firebolt is damage and Blood Pact is a group Stamina benefit. A Felhunter has named magic-removal and spell-control tools. Seduction has a Humanoid condition and damage breaks it. A list of demon abilities is not a promise that every summoned demon can use every entry.

All 63 demon-rank learning levels in this saved set remain unconfirmed. The reference displays them as unknown, rather than promoting an earlier source level to a proven trainer requirement.

Mana management, Soul Shards and uncertain ranks

The spell-reference tab includes recorded ranks beyond the selected core. Shadowburn, Conflagrate, Incinerate and the marked Rain of Fire ranks remain TEMP. I have not used those unresolved effects to invent an extra burst sequence or a damage comparison.

Drain Soul’s captured FOREVER wording allows Soul Shard generation from damaging non-trivial targets and guarantees a shard when it kills such a target. Do not replace that with an older killing-blow-only explanation. Read the spell’s conditions along with its rank.

This guide does not rank equipment, races or demon families for every activity. Its practical starting point is the relationship between your own continuing effects, the time needed to channel, and the companion you are actually using. Drain tanking means relying on draining attacks to recover Health while an enemy attacks you; this allocation has not established that as a safe leveling strategy.

Affliction Warlock guide: spell choices and demon control

Do I recast Corruption for every damage tick?

At the selected five ranks, Improved Corruption removes Corruption's recorded two-second cast time, making the spell instant. It still has a Mana cost. Instant casting changes how you apply the effect; periodic damage means its damage then arrives over time. You do not cast Corruption again to cause each ordinary tick. Watch the effect on the target and its remaining duration before choosing another application, a Bane, a channel or a control spell.

Can Bane of Agony and Curse of the Elements coexist?

A Bane and a utility Curse are separate categories. You can keep one of your Banes and one of your Curses on the same target. Curse of the Elements affects Magic resistance and Magic damage taken. In its captured rank 4, it reduces Magic resistances by 75 and increases Magic damage taken by 10%, lasting five minutes. Earlier recorded ranks have smaller values, so the rank matters. Curse of Weakness instead reduces the target's physical damage caused. In a group, agree on an assigned Curse instead of assuming each Warlock's Curse has the same job.

Bane of Agony builds its damage over its full duration. An enemy that dies early cannot take the whole listed total, so fight length matters when deciding what to apply to your main target.

How many Affliction effects does Soul Siphon count?

At this build's three ranks, Soul Siphon increases the damage done or health drained by Drain Life, Drain Soul and Wrack by 12% for each of your other qualifying Affliction effects active on the target, capped at a 36% increase. Three qualifying other effects reach that recorded cap. Effects from another player and repeated counting of the same effect are not extra qualifying effects.

This relationship explains why the Affliction tree links a setup to your next drain or Wrack channel. If you cast Shadow Bolt during a Nightfall opportunity, it remains a different spell from those named channels. A filler spell is an attack used between other decisions, not a requirement to interrupt every channel with Shadow Bolt.

What can a Felhunter do that a Voidwalker cannot?

Spell Lock and Devour Magic belong to the Felhunter toolkit. Spell Lock silences an enemy and, when used during a cast, interrupts it and locks that school of magic. Devour Magic removes a harmful Magic effect from a friend or a beneficial Magic effect from an enemy. A successful devour heals the Felhunter, not its owner.

Those are alternative demon tools, not extra abilities granted to this example's Voidwalker. The Companions tab separates the recorded abilities and ranks; learning levels remain unknown. Choose a pet for its actual abilities rather than expecting one summon to provide every demon's controls.

Sources, versions and uncertainty

The talents use the saved World of Warcraft: Forever client reference 1.60.1.70755. Individual class spell and companion records retain their own earlier source-build context, including 70753, rather than being relabeled as the same capture. These are captured descriptions, not a live-server test. A new patch, changed rank cap or different server behavior requires a fresh check.

This class has 7 cases in the original 64-case TEMP research set. The question marks identify unresolved effects and affected ranks. No uncertain numeric candidate has been chosen. The reference can include abilities outside this selected build; that does not mean the example spends points in all of them.

This guide uses a disclosed allocation variant tailored to the role explained here. The earlier nine-class explorer remains unchanged. Legally spending points proves only that the captured rules allow the choices, not that the build performs best.

The character illustration was prepared for Crit Pick using AI. It illustrates the class, not official gameplay. Ability icons come from the saved FOREVER reference sources.
