WoW Forever Enhancement Shaman build: a beginner’s melee and spell guide
Learn how this WoW Forever Enhancement Shaman build plays, inspect its talent tree, and understand the uncertain effects.

This WoW Forever Enhancement Shaman build is a level-60 example with 31 points in Enhancement and 20 in Restoration. You fight close to the enemy, watch for Lightning Bolt opportunities and manage Mana, weapon effects and totems. The supporting Restoration points deliberately add utility and healing support rather than claiming the highest possible melee damage.
This guide is for players new to WoW or new to Enhancement who want to understand melee attacks, spell openings and group support. A build is your set of chosen talent improvements. I checked this allocation against the saved FOREVER rules, but have not tested it in game. The guide keeps captured-client and announced spell wording separate; it does not import a modern Shaman rotation into this reference.

What playing this Enhancement Shaman is like
The interesting part is connecting weapon attacks to the spell you can use next. Your Mana and active effects still need attention while you are standing in melee range.
- Link weapon and spell decisions. Stormstrike attacks and strengthens the next named Nature spell against the target. It is more than a button whose damage number can be read in isolation.
- Notice a Lightning Bolt opening. Maelstrom Weapon can reduce Lightning Bolt’s casting time and Mana cost after melee attacks. Its captured effect does not apply to every spell with lightning or healing in the name.
- Bring the right support. Totems, shields and healing tools have different purposes and costs. A hybrid role means choosing between actions, not receiving every benefit simultaneously.
A temporary effect triggered by another action is often called a proc. Learn what caused it and which next spell it affects before treating every glowing icon as the same kind of opportunity.
Enhancement Shaman talent calculator: try the build
This example uses 51 talent points: 31 Enhancement / 20 Restoration. It assumes the standard level-60 point budget without extra Legacy talent-point modifiers. A talent rank is a point invested in an improvement; a spell rank is a recorded version of an ability. They are different things.
Click a talent to read its effect, then use the plus and minus controls to change your points. The planner checks recorded rank limits, tree-spending gates and prerequisite talents. You can start empty, reload this example or save your own allocation. The complete table remains readable without the planner.

Why these Enhancement talents are here

Stormstrike and its next-spell relationship
Stormstrike links a weapon strike to increased damage from your next Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning or Earth Shock against that target in the captured description. Those named spells define the follow-up choice; the effect is not a permanent increase to every spell.
There is a source-version difference in Stormstrike’s strike coefficient: the captured talent wording and an announced/provider ability layer describe the weapon hit differently. The information marker preserves that distinction. I have left the exact strike multiplier out rather than select one layer and label it live-tested.
At the selected 2/2 rank, using Stormstrike grants a 50% Mana-regeneration-while-casting effect for 15 seconds. This is regeneration, not an instant return of half your maximum Mana. The same talent resets Stormstrike's cooldown when you Dodge or Parry; an ordinary landed hit or critical strike is a different event. A melee damage player should not read that as advice to deliberately attract attacks for resets.

How do I build and spend Maelstrom Weapon stacks?
Enhancement's core weapon-to-spell decision is to generate Maelstrom Weapon stacks with melee damage and spend their benefit on Lightning Bolt. At the selected 5/5 talent rank, a qualifying melee attack has a chance to grant a stack that reduces the next Lightning Bolt's casting time and Mana cost by 20%. A stack is another layer of the same effect, up to five layers. The captured effect lasts 30 seconds. Generating stacks, noticing how many you have and choosing the next Lightning Bolt are connected decisions. In this captured FOREVER reference, the talent names Lightning Bolt only. With this build’s five points in Maelstrom Weapon, five stacks make the next Lightning Bolt an instant cast with its recorded Mana cost removed.
That is different from Stormstrike’s longer list of possible follow-up spells. Do not assume Maelstrom makes Chain Lightning or a healing spell instant. Understanding which improvement applies to which spell is the main reason to read the two talents together.

Weapon effects, threat and your chosen role
Elemental Weapons improves its named weapon effects. Spirit Weapons increases threat from your attacks while Rockbiter Weapon is active and reduces it without Rockbiter. That condition matters when someone else is supposed to hold the enemy’s attention.
Threat is the attention your actions build with enemies. Natural Grace separately reduces spell threat. These descriptions are not a universal threat guarantee, and the Rockbiter condition must not disappear from the explanation.
Flametongue Weapon has unresolved rank-effect values marked with question marks. I have not used those values to calculate a best weapon-effect combination. The captured Windfury Weapon text also says that applying it to the main hand prevents your personal benefit from Windfury Totem; do not promise both bonuses together.

Mental Quickness, Improved Stormstrike and Restoration support
Ancestral Knowledge improves Intellect. At the selected 3/3 rank, Mental Dexterity adds Attack Power equal to 100% of your Intellect. That is an amount based on Intellect, not a promise to double all Attack Power. At 2/2, Mental Quickness adds spell damage and healing by up to 30% of your Intellect; it is not a flat 30% increase to every spell's damage. Those are explicit FOREVER talent relationships, not a modern Agility-based stat explanation.
Thundering Strikes improves critical-strike chance for all spells and attacks in this captured talent description. Shamanistic Focus reduces the Mana cost of Shock and Lightning Shield spells. This build selects Rage of the Farseer as its final Enhancement talent. The ability increases attack speed by 30% for 25 seconds. It creates a temporary window for weapon attacks; it is not Shamanistic Rage and its captured description grants neither damage reduction nor Mana recovery.
The Restoration side includes Tidal Focus, which has a hit-chance component as well as healing-cost reduction in this record. Totemic Focus helps with totem-related costs. Improved Healing Wave and Healing Focus support healing casts. Water Shield provides a conditional Mana-return option, but only one Elemental Shield can be active at a time. These are disclosed support choices rather than a claim that every point directly increases melee damage.
Enhancement Shaman rotation: weapon and spell decisions
Begin with a small, understandable fight. These situations explain the relationships in the allocation rather than prescribe a damage-optimized rotation. Check your actual learned abilities, active effects and Mana before using any sequence.

Engage in close range
Use the weapon attacks you have available and watch your target and position. Stormstrike gives a reason to consider the named Nature follow-up. It does not remove other spells’ casting requirements, cooldowns or costs.

Maelstrom Weapon becomes active
Read the stacks and the next Lightning Bolt they affect. If you choose a different spell, do not assume that spell receives Maelstrom’s reduction. A temporary opening is still a decision, especially if the fight requires you to move or help someone.

You want to use or move totems
Totems are placed support tools. Their benefit depends on the relevant effect and situation, rather than every totem being an extra personal damage buff. Totemic Focus reduces named costs. Totemic Recall removes existing totems; its captured refund wording and the announcement's beta-bug caveat are explained below.

A healing spell would help
Healing Wave is a different action from continuing your weapon pressure. The supporting healing talents make that choice easier to understand, but Maelstrom Weapon does not reduce its cast time in this captured reference. You still need to consider the cast and its Mana cost.

You need to travel or reposition
Improved Ghost Wolf changes Ghost Wolf’s cast-time and location rules. With the selected talent, indoor use is explicitly supported even though the base spell description says outdoors only. This is a talent-dependent exception, not proof that the unmodified base spell has the same permission.
Water Shield, Lightning Shield and Mana decisions
How does Water Shield return Mana?
Water Shield surrounds you with three globes. An incoming spell, melee or ranged hit, or one of your spells getting a critical result, can activate a globe. Each activated globe restores 2% of maximum Mana and is spent. Only one globe activates every few seconds; the record does not supply a precise interval here. A critical melee attack is not the spell-critical trigger described by this talent.
Can Water Shield and Lightning Shield be active together?
Water Shield and Lightning Shield are alternative Elemental Shield choices here. The selected Water Shield description says only one can be active; do not plan on simultaneous benefits from both. Lightning Shield provides its own damage effect when its trigger is met; Water Shield addresses Mana instead. Choose the effect for your situation and check the remaining globes rather than treating either name as a permanent, unlimited benefit.
The spell-reference tab retains all marked Flametongue ranks and the Stormstrike source note. This guide does not establish a best imbue, equipment set, race ranking or exact damage window. Its practical starting point is understanding the weapon-to-spell links and the limits of the utility points.
Totems and Ghost Wolf: support beyond single-target damage
Choose an Earth, Fire, Water or Air totem
The totem set uses four elements: Earth, Fire, Water and Air. Strength of Earth supports attributes, while Searing Totem repeatedly attacks an enemy with Fire damage. Water choices such as Mana Spring Totem and Healing Stream Totem address different group needs: Mana recovery or healing.
Air choices include Windfury Totem for melee attacks and Grounding Totem for a particular harmful spell. Grounding does not redirect area-of-effect spells. Remember the separate Windfury Weapon/main-hand restriction described above when choosing support for a melee group.
Where does Fire Nova deal its area damage?
Fire Nova is an area-of-effect Fire damage spell, often shortened to AoE. In the captured spell ranks, it instantly damages enemies within ten yards of your active Fire totem. The Fire totem is the center of that area; your own position is not the center merely because you cast the spell. Placing that totem in one location and fighting somewhere else changes which enemies are near the eruption. The action therefore involves position as well as an available spell.
Your Enhancement tree choices still matter: Maelstrom Weapon changes Lightning Bolt, not Fire Nova. You have not selected every Elemental-tree damage talent merely because both spells can deal magical damage.
Call of the Elements, Projection or Recall: which action do I need?
Call of the Elements simultaneously places up to four totems specified in the Totem Bar. It is the action for deploying the prepared set. The captured class announcement describes Totemic Projection as moving existing totems to a new location. Totemic Recall removes them instead. Placing, moving and removing are three different actions: read which one you need before pressing a totem button.
The announcement also noted a beta bug preventing Recall's Mana refund. I have not verified whether that bug was fixed. The recorded refund is therefore not a reliable promise of Mana regeneration in a live fight; keep enough Mana for the actions you intend to use.
Improved Ghost Wolf makes movement simpler
With the selected two points in Improved Ghost Wolf, the recorded three-second base cast becomes instant and indoor use is allowed. This is useful when you need to change position: an instant cast removes that casting wait, while the movement-speed effect belongs to Ghost Wolf itself.
These are supporting choices in a melee-and-spell build. The Restoration tree also spends points on healing and totem costs. That tradeoff gives you several tools to learn without claiming that all 51 points maximize personal damage.
Sources, versions and uncertainty
The talents use the saved World of Warcraft: Forever client reference 1.60.1.70755. Individual class spell and companion records retain their own earlier source-build context, including 70753, rather than being relabeled as the same capture. These are captured descriptions, not a live-server test. A new patch, changed rank cap or different server behavior requires a fresh check.
This class has 6 cases in the original 64-case TEMP research set. The question marks identify unresolved effects and affected ranks. No uncertain numeric candidate has been chosen. The reference can include abilities outside this selected build; that does not mean the example spends points in all of them.
The character illustration was prepared for Crit Pick using AI. It illustrates the class, not official gameplay. Ability icons come from the saved FOREVER reference sources.
