Partner skill: Birds of a Feather

The practical breakdown of Birds of a Feather.

RideYakumo can be ridden — a mount as much as a fighter.
Passive huntWhile it fights alongside you, wild Pals are 15–30% more likely to carry the same Passive Skill as your Yakumo — a way to farm a specific passive onto fresh catches.
Catch noteThe bonus only fills empty passive slots, only on caught Pals (not eggs). Keep Yakumo to one or two target passives so the odds don't split.

How to breed Yakumo

Yakumo hatches from a Common Egg and has 277 parent combinations, so you can breed one long before you meet it on Sakurajima. You need a Breeding Farm (Tech 19) and a Cake; parents can be any level, just opposite genders.

Easiest pairBristla + Smokie — the lowest-rarity parents among all the combos.
Also worksBlazehowl + Blue Slime, or any rank-averaged pair that lands on Yakumo — check a breeding calculator against what you own.

The story of Yakumo

Yakumo has a fierce sense of justice and despises evil. The Paldeck records that they were once faithful, loving companions to the islanders. Something soured that bond: today a Yakumo turns on any human the moment it is spotted, hunting them across Sakurajima with the same devotion it once offered. A guardian that never stopped guarding — it just changed sides.

Field notes
— from the log of a Pal keeper

Day 3. Spotted one prowling the slopes below Moonflower Tower. It came straight for me — no bluff, no display.

Day 5. Tamed and rode it. Quick on its feet, and it really does drag a wild Pal's passive onto whatever I catch beside it.

Day 8. Only good for Gathering back at base, but I keep one on the field just for the passive-hunting trick.

Day 11. Bred a spare from a Bristla and a Smokie — easier than climbing Sakurajima for another.
