Kingdom Two Crowns: Call of Olympus guide
Temple quests, divine artifacts, mounts and the route to Olympus.
On this page
Call of Olympus replaces the usual cave-clearing route with an expedition across ten lands: the Oracle’s starting island, four temple islands, four quest islands and Olympus. Restore temples to open routes, earn four divine artifacts, then take the fleet to the final island. Spoilers below cover quest solutions and the final objective.
What goes where on the campaign map?
Do not use a medieval “island 2 has stone, island 4 has iron” route here. Stone technology appears on your first visited quest island; iron appears on your second. Most mount, hermit and statue assignments vary between campaigns. The ordinary Stag required by Artemis is the important fixed exception. A list that always places every mount on the same named island will mislead you.
| Location | Find / objective | What it unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Oracle / Omphalos | Oracle temple, incense, shipyard | Travel to four temple islands |
| Athena temple | Recover idol; repair Tholos | Athena quest island; trireme |
| Artemis temple | Recover idol; repair Tholos | Artemis quest island; trireme |
| Hephaestus temple | Recover idol; repair Tholos | Hephaestus quest island; trireme |
| Hermes temple | Recover idol; repair Tholos | Hermes quest island; trireme |
| Athena quest | Persephone; frozen tree; golden apple | Athena’s shield |
| Artemis quest | Stag; Golden Stag; cage | Artemis’ bow |
| Hephaestus quest | Golden hammer; forge | Hephaestus’ hammer |
| Hermes quest | Seven souls; head statue; Charon | Hermes’ staff; dock-side pouch upgrade |
| Olympus | Serpent; Trojan Horse components | Final journey into Mount Olympus |
Mount stamina, speed and feeding
Bars show relative ratings, not measured speed or sprint times. Hover or tap a skill or Food for details. Finish feeding before a long trip; the well-fed reserve expires even while you stand still.
The starting horse has average speed and stamina and grazes on open-field grass.
What each unlock does
Gems pay for the one-time unlock. Coins are a separate payment to ride a mount, activate a statue or carry a hermit. A hermit’s 1-coin ride does not include the building conversion. Technology prices do not include local town or wall upgrades. The starting horse is free. Most locations vary. Only five of the six hermit types appear in a campaign. Quest payments are individual stages, not a campaign total.
Ranks: our practical priorities within each category and campaign. S = first pick, A = strong, B = useful, C = situational, D = low priority, E = weak, F = avoid. Hover or tap a rank for the trade-off; no tier is filled just to use every letter. Comparison sources.
| Unlock | Effect | Use / requirements | Rank | Island |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GriffinMount2 gems8 coins | Its wing blast pushes Greed back, buying defenders time. Use the mount action near a wave. It can feed anywhere, but still has limited stamina. | MovementBlocker SpeedFast StaminaGood Catches rats anywhere when stopped, including in winter and caves. Its wing blast still spends stamina. | S tier: Fast travel, knockback and feeding anywhere make this the safest general-purpose pick, including in winter and caves. | Variable location |
| StagMount1 gem3 coins | Attracts deer so they follow you towards your hunters. Ride close to deer, then lead them back to your archers. In Olympus it is also needed to lure the Golden Stag. | MovementEconomy SpeedFast in forest StaminaSlightly above average Grazes on open-field grass. It cannot feed beneath forest cover, despite travelling faster there. | A tier: An excellent early scout through forest, with deer income on the way home. It still needs open grass to feed. | Artemis quest island |
| Draft horseMount1 gem3 coins | Gives you more running stamina than the starting horse. Useful for long scouting trips. It grazes on grass and has no combat ability. | Movement SpeedAbove average StaminaHigh Grazes on open-field grass. Long stamina does not remove its need to stop and recover. | C tier: Good stamina, but Olympus offers stronger mobility mounts and useful combat skills. A serviceable early travel option. | Variable location |
| BearMount3 gems8 coins | Damages wildlife and Greed with its charge attack. Run into targets to attack. Wildlife hits restore some stamina after the 2024 buff; keep enough reserve to retreat. | Damage DealerEconomy SpeedFast in forest StaminaLow Grazes on open-field grass. Hitting wildlife also restores some stamina; an empty route provides no targets for that recovery. | B tier: A useful hunting and damage specialist after the 2024 buff: wildlife hits restore some stamina. Low reserves still punish an empty escape route. | Variable location |
| Day/night chariotMount3 gems8 coins | Dashes forward, with its chosen form tied to day or night. Choose a form at the landmark and use its burst for travel. The day and night forms recover their special burst at different times. | Movement SpeedAbove average + dash StaminaBelow average Both forms graze on open-field grass. Choosing the night form does not let it feed on moonlight. | B tier: Useful timed bursts for travel. Low stamina and grass feeding make it less flexible than the Sea-horse. | Variable location |
| ArachneMount3 gems8 coins | Drops webs that slow Greed. Lay webs on an incoming route. It moves better and feeds in forest. | Blocker SpeedSlow · faster in forest StaminaSlightly above average Eats insects beneath forest cover. Open grassland does not provide its feeding condition. | A tier: Webs give reliable ground-wave control. Keep forest for its feeding and travel advantages. | Variable location |
| ArgosMount3 gems8 coins | Gives nearby subjects protective and movement benefits. Use the mount action near the group you want to support. It feeds in forest. | Support SpeedAverage StaminaAbove average Recovers while stopped in forest, where it looks towards you. Cannot use open-field grass for this recovery. | A tier: A strong support choice when accompanying subjects. Needs forest recovery and contributes through buffs rather than direct damage. | Variable location |
| DonkeyMount2 gems2 coins | Produces bread that can recruit vagrants, helping rebuild your workforce. Use its mount action near recruitment camps. It is an economy and recruitment option rather than a direct attack mount. | Recruitment SpeedAverage StaminaAbove average Grazes on open-field grass. Producing bread for vagrants does not feed the mount. | C tier: Useful for rebuilding your workforce near camps. Recruitment infrastructure can cover that role without occupying your mount slot. | Variable location |
| ChimeraMount3 gems4 + 10 coins | Leaps forward while setting Greed on fire. Use its mount action towards a target. The leap carries you towards enemies, so leave room to retreat. Open the cave with builders; 4 coins to release, then 10 to ride. | Damage Dealer SpeedSlightly above average StaminaAverage Eats a small animal while stopped on a grassy plain. The animation uses prey, but its feeding location still requires grass. | A tier: Strong offensive fire leaps, especially with an attack-focused loadout. Landing towards Greed makes positioning and retreat essential. | Variable location |
| Sea-horseMount3 gemsFishing + 8 coins | Builds up speed through repeated bursts and can replenish stamina anywhere. Repeat the mount action to gain speed. It keeps momentum after you stop pressing a direction; turn to slow down before paying for things. Buy the dock; fish successfully three times. 2 coins per attempt, fish can repay costs; 8 to ride. | Movement SpeedFast + burst StaminaLow Splashes itself with water anywhere when stopped. Does not need grass or a water landmark, including in winter. | S tier: Excellent travel and escapes, with bursts and recovery anywhere. Short stamina and lingering momentum take practice. | Variable location |
| PegasusMountQuest10 coins | Makes long forward leaps to cross ground quickly. Use the mount action to leap. Athena’s shield is needed to release it at its landmark; it feeds on grass. | Movement SpeedAverage StaminaAbove average Grazes on open-field grass. Flying does not remove its feeding requirement. | A tier: Long leaps and good stamina make a useful mobility pick. Still needs grass and its release requirement. | Variable location |
| CerberusMount3 masks12 coins | Summons a temporary spectral knight and archers. Use the mount action while facing the direction you want the squad to advance. The summoned troops keep moving and can be defeated. Collect the souls to reveal Hades’ Gates, then offer 3 masks and pay 12 coins to ride. | SummonerSupport SpeedAverage StaminaHigh Digs up a bone while stopped on a grassy plain. Despite the bone animation, it needs the grass feeding condition. | A tier: A strong mobile reinforcement option. Summoned troops are less dependable against large late waves; keep permanent defences. | Variable location |
| Archery statueStatue3 gems10 coins | Improves your archers’ accuracy. | Pay the coin offering after the gem unlock. The blessing applies across the campaign; reactivate it after losing the crown. | S tier: A first priority: better accuracy helps your main defenders and hunters throughout the campaign. | Variable location |
| Building statueStatue3 gems9 coins | Increases wall durability. | Activate the blessing, then let builders reinforce your walls. It does not automatically upgrade the wall tier. | A tier: Stronger walls buy time on every defended side. Still maintain your army and repair damaged defences. | Variable location |
| Scythe statueStatue1 gem7 coins | Lets farms support more plots and farmers. | Activate the blessing and leave enough clear space around the farm for the extra plots. | B tier: Good once you can staff spacious farms. It adds little before farming is established or where plots are cramped. | Variable location |
| Knight statueStatue2 gems8 coins | Improves knights’ attack speed and coin capacity. | Activate the statue before relying on it in an assault; it does not recruit a squad for you. | A tier: Faster attacks and extra coin capacity strengthen assault squads. The old leaping attack was removed in 2021; you still need trained troops. | Variable location |
| Hoplite statueStatue2 gems9 coins | Makes hoplites attack faster. | Activate its coin offering. You still need to recruit and equip hoplites. | A tier: A strong upgrade for a hoplite army. Recruit and equip those units before spending on the blessing. | Variable location |
| Brewer HermitHermit4 gems1 coin | Creates Olympus’ wine-serving version of the bakery to attract and recruit vagrants. | Convert a triplet-or-better tower and buy treats. Eating a treat recruits a vagrant; a recruit still needs equipment. | S tier: Strong recruitment support for sustaining your army. Conversion and supplies still need an established economy. | Variable location |
| Stable HermitHermit1 gem1 coin | Converts an upgraded farm into a stable for unlocked mounts. | Carry the hermit to a mill house. Construction costs 8 coins; mounts available at the stable cost 3 coins to switch to. | B tier: Convenient mount swaps and specialist access. Lower priority if one general-purpose mount already covers your needs. | Variable location |
| Horn HermitHermit1 gem1 coin | Adds a war horn to a strong wall, allowing reinforcements from the other side. | Carry the hermit to a suitable high-tier wall and pay for conversion. Sounding the horn costs 1 coin; troops from the other side stay until morning, leaving that side less protected. | C tier: Situational reinforcements for a threatened side. Travel takes time and the opposite side loses protection. | Variable location |
| Warrior HermitHermit2 gems1 coin | Converts a triplet archer tower into a recruitment point for one additional squad leader. | Carry the hermit to the tower and pay for conversion, then buy its extra shield. The new leader needs archers for a useful assault squad. | B tier: Useful extra assault capacity once you can equip another squad. Conversion, shields and archers make it an investment. | Variable location |
| Ballista HermitHermit3 gems1 coin | Converts a high-tier archer tower into a long-range ballista. | Carry the hermit to a triplet-or-better tower and pay for conversion. A builder operates the weapon; the former tower archers return to normal work. | A tier: Strong tower support when a good tower spot covers the approach. Poor placement or exposed crew lowers its value. | Variable location |
| Fire Tower HermitHermit3 gems1 coin | Converts a high-tier archer tower into a fire tower for burning incoming Greed. | Olympus: a builder operates it. Stock fire bottles for incendiary shots; without them it throws rocks. Convert a triplet-or-better tower with the hermit. | A tier: Strong ground-wave support from a suitable tower. Budget for the conversion and staffing; it cannot replace a full defence. | Variable location |
| Stone mineTechnology10 coins | Unlocks stone technology across every island in this campaign. | Pay at the mine, then buy the local town and wall upgrades. The mine itself does not turn existing wooden walls into stone. | — | First quest island visited |
| Iron mineTechnology20 coins | Unlocks iron technology, including the route to the strongest keep and the bomb. | Unlock stone first. Pay at the mine, upgrade your local keep, then prepare the bomb and its escort. | — | Second quest island visited |
| DogCompanion1 coin dropped | Warns you which direction a Greed wave is coming from. | Listen to its barking and keep it away from live portals. It provides warning rather than fighting for you. Drop a coin on the fallen tree; recover it afterwards. | — | Variable location |
| Athena’s shieldArtifactQuest8 + 1 + 1 coins | Petrifies targets in front of you, including friendly subjects. | Stand ahead of your soldiers before activating it. It also releases Pegasus at its landmark. Restore the tree, take the apple, then collect the shield; Persephone rescue costs are separate. | — | Athena quest island |

| Restored Tholos / triremeFleetQuest1 + 3 coins | Unlocks that god’s quest island and adds a trireme to your fleet. | Clear the temple portal, rebuild the Tholos and return the golden idol. Portals: what is confirmed and what needs counting
The five-island portal table does not apply to this campaign. Temple islands have water on both ends instead of the familiar cliff-and-dock arrangement. The table records the confirmed objective portals and separates them from totals we have not established. “Not verified” does not mean zero.
| Map | Confirmed portal objective | Full exterior total |
|---|---|---|
| Oracle / Omphalos | Oracle-side portal; opposite-side portal | 2 end portals |
| Each of the four temple islands | Tholos-side portal; opposite living portal | 2 end portals per island |
| Athena quest | Route to Persephone’s prison | Not verified |
| Artemis quest | Clear the route required for the cage objective | Not verified |
| Hephaestus quest | Skeleton portal at the forge end | Not verified |
| Hermes quest | Dock-side portal; soul-statue dock has no portal | Not verified |
| Olympus | Three ordinary portals on the right; no portals left | 3; Serpent counted separately |
Use the pause map to count remaining portals in your own save. We have not verified complete quest-island counts against a current full run, so no invented totals are supplied for those maps. The Serpent is a separate moving threat; do not silently add it to a count of ordinary portals.
Flags, temple restoration and your fleet
Pay the green flag at your outer wall to lead a detachment of hoplites and ranged troops. Keep your front line between you and the Greed and give the ranged troops room to damage the portal. Returning behind the wall ends your role as flag bearer. This lets you attack early without waiting for the medieval knight-based route.
On a temple island, clear the portal attached to the Tholos, pay builders to restore it and bring back the golden idol from the other end. Picking up the idol triggers danger, so prepare an escape route before paying. A restored temple opens its god’s quest island and adds a trireme, up to four in the fleet.
The four quest solutions and artifacts
Athena: free Persephone, bring her to the frozen tree and fund its restoration to grow the golden apple. Prepare for the attack associated with completing the quest. The shield petrifies targets in front of you, including friendly subjects, so stand ahead of your own army before using it.
Artemis: ride the Stag, build the cage and lead the Golden Stag into it. Approaching without the correct mount makes it flee. The bow rains arrows onto the Greed, giving you an offensive power that works alongside your troops.
Hephaestus: retrieve the golden hammer, defeat the skeleton portal at the other end and restore the forge. Return the hammer to complete the task. Its power enhances your troops with fire. Hermes: collect seven souls during your travels, deliver them to his head statue and ring the bell. Survive the resulting attack and claim the staff from Charon. Its turned Greedlings eventually become hostile again, so use it away from your own walls.
Olympus and the Trojan Horse
All four artifacts open the final island. Send triremes to attack the Serpent’s exposed body, then push the weakened head back to reach the horse components. Recover four wheels and a crown for the Trojan Horse. Finish preparation before launching it: entering Mount Olympus commits you to the final sequence. Inside, protect the builders while they restore the monuments, then offer the crown to complete the ending.
