Norse Lands has six islands, wooden technology tiers and a defence system built around shields, powers and Berserkers. The extra island is not the only reason a medieval route stops working: advanced technology arrives later, and archers need shields before they can join an assault company.

Shields, wooden walls and Berserkers

There is no stone or iron wall technology in this campaign. Unlock the first wood upgrade on island 2 and advanced wood on island 5. Build the local settlement through the corresponding tiers; reaching an island alone does not upgrade every wall.

Buy common shields from the shield shop for 2 coins. Archers need those shields to join your squad leaders. If a leader has no escort, check shield supply before sending them out. Shield-wall defence also matters against Crushers, whose charges punish weak walls. A stronger economy still needs enough people and equipment to survive the night.

A potion vendor becomes available with the required second-tier fortifications and back wall. A 3-coin potion turns a builder into a Berserker. That worker stops constructing and repairing, so do not convert your last useful builders. Berserkers fight outside the wall and can be lost; keep the kingdom able to replace them.

Mount stamina, speed and feeding

Bars show relative ratings, not measured speed or sprint times. Hover or tap a skill or Food for details. Finish feeding before a long trip; the well-fed reserve expires even while you stand still.

The starting fluffy horse has average speed and stamina and grazes on open-field grass.

What each unlock does

Gems pay for the one-time unlock. Coins are a separate payment to ride a mount, activate a statue or carry a hermit. A hermit’s 1-coin ride does not include the building conversion. Technology prices do not include local town or wall upgrades. The starting horse is free.

Ranks: our practical priorities within each category and campaign. S = first pick, A = strong, B = useful, C = situational, D = low priority, E = weak, F = avoid. Hover or tap a rank for the trade-off; no tier is filled just to use every letter. Comparison sources.

Grazes on open-field grass. Its changing form does not supply a free stamina refill.
A tier: High stamina and strong travel at dawn and dusk; also needed for the portal-horn puzzle. Speed varies over the day.Island 1
Horn HermitHermit1 gem1 coinAdds a war horn to a strong wall, allowing reinforcements from the other side.Carry the hermit to a suitable high-tier wall and pay for conversion. Sounding the horn costs 1 coin; troops from the other side stay until morning, leaving that side less protected.C tier: Situational reinforcements for a threatened side. Travel takes time and the opposite side loses protection.Island 1
Horn of portalsPower3 gems1 coinCreates an entrance and exit through which subjects can travel instantly.Place both portals to shorten a useful route. Your monarch cannot use them; Greed can, so avoid creating an enemy shortcut.—Island 1
Birch campTechnology10 coinsUnlocks Norse Lands’ first advanced wood tier, in place of stone technology.Repair it, then upgrade your local settlement and walls. These remain wooden Norse structures.—Island 2

Grazes on open-field grass. It cannot feed beneath forest cover, despite travelling faster there.
A tier: An excellent early scout through forest, with deer income on the way home. It still needs open grass to feed.Island 2
Cat chariotMount3 gems7 coinsHas a burst of speed and can feed anywhere. Use the speed burst for travel and escapes, then let the mount recover before depending on another burst.
Movement

StaminaBelow average
Catches rats anywhere when stopped, including in winter. The speed burst does not make stamina unlimited.
A tier: Dash travel and recovery anywhere make a dependable winter option. Low stamina between bursts needs planning.Island 2
Brewery HermitHermit4 gems1 coinCreates Norse Lands’ brewery, where mead attracts and recruits vagrants.Convert a triplet-or-better tower and stock treats. Recruits still need tools or weapons to take a job.S tier: Recruitment support saves long camp runs and helps replace losses. Build and stock the converted structure first.Island 2

Grazes on open-field grass. Plan feeding stops before an attack or a long return journey.
S tier: Fast travel plus fire and knockback cover both offence and defence. Grass feeding is its main winter limitation.Island 3
Fire Tower HermitHermit3 gems1 coinConverts a high-tier archer tower into a fire tower for burning incoming Greed.Norse: a builder throws flammable liquid and an archer ignites it. Soaks itself with water when stopped; no grass or nearby pond is required, so recovery remains available in winter.
S tier: Excellent control, with ice barriers and recovery anywhere in winter. Choose it for defence; ordinary travel is slow.Island 4
Stable HermitHermit1 gem1 coinConverts an upgraded farm into a stable for unlocked mounts.Carry the hermit to a mill house. Construction costs 8 coins; mounts available at the stable cost 3 coins to switch to. Norse stables also need a rancher for each mount: buy a 5-coin pitchfork per rancher, up to three.A tier: Useful swaps between travel, winter defence and Golden Boar income. Its value grows when you use several specialist mounts.Island 4

Knight statueStatue2 gems8 coinsImproves knights’ attack speed and coin capacity.Activate the statue before relying on it in an assault; it does not recruit a squad for you.A tier: Faster attacks and extra coin capacity strengthen assault squads. The old leaping attack was removed in 2021; you still need trained troops.Island 5

Island 1: Bring gems back for the horse, statue, hermit and Horn puzzle.

Island 2: Unlock birch technology and free the dog.

Island 3: Solve the hammer puzzle and budget for rune changes.

Island 4: Hel’s offering consumes equipment; budget to re-equip the squad.

Island 5: Advanced wood technology is here, one island later than medieval iron.

Island 6: Final island. Empty valuable gems before attempting Loki’s puzzle.

Island 6: Once unlocked, powers cost 5 coins to switch at the Stone Totem. This is separate from the initial puzzle costs above.

Island 6: The fixed island assignment does not give a fixed screen coordinate. Explore the landmarks and check the pause map. You need gems from later islands before you can buy the gem-locked discoveries on island 1.

Norse Lands portal counts

These are fresh-campaign exterior counts. Add the cliff portal and dock portal to the small portals on each side; do not count cave nests or your own teleporters. Island 4 differs from the medieval campaign: it has two small portals on each side, not three.

How to unlock the four powers

Horn of portals, island 1: ride the Day-night horse. Offer a gem at each sun-marked pedestal when its light is active: morning, noon and evening. The resulting pair of portals transports subjects. Greed can also use the connection, so placement can create a shortcut for the wrong side.

Thor’s hammer, island 3: use the nearby runestone as the clue for the rotating rune puzzle. Pay coins to change the cylinders, then activate the shrine to check the combination. Incorrect runes show red. The hammer calls lightning against the Greed. Bring spare coins rather than expecting one payment to solve the shrine.

Hel’s trophy, island 4: fund the offering points and bring a squad with a leader and shield-equipped archers. The shrine also takes their equipment, so budget for re-equipping the people left behind. The reward summons a temporary spectral fighting group.

Loki’s staff, island 6: the shrine requires your crown to be knocked into its offering area. Empty valuable gems from your pouch first, arrange a controlled encounter with a Greedling and recover control before the crown is stolen. This is a risky puzzle, especially alone. The staff lets you take a Greed form; your own subjects can treat that form as hostile.

Winter and finishing the campaign

Norse winter brings shorter daylight and weaker berry income. Put away money before snow, and avoid making a new island depend on unfinished farms. Advanced wood on island 5 is your late-game technology target. Prepare the strongest keep and bomb escort before clearing the remaining caves; powers help the attack but do not replace builders, protected archers or a mount able to escape.
