Aniimo guides
What is Aniimo?
Aniimo is a free-to-play creature collector with an open world, made and published by Pawprint Studio (Pawprint Interactive Entertainment Pte. Ltd., Singapore). It launched worldwide on 16 September 2026 on PC, consoles and Xbox cloud gaming; the mobile version arrives on 23 September 2026. It runs on three server regions — Americas, Europe and APAC — and one account can hold characters on more than one of them.
The creature roster is large. The developer’s own index lists 95 species across 225 forms, and Pawprint described it as “more than 200” going into launch — most likely counting forms rather than species. Forms differ by element, role and how they carry you around the world, which is why the Dex is the fastest way to answer “is this one worth raising”.
Cross-platform multiplayer is supported. Cross-progression has never been stated either way — if that matters to you, pick your platform as though it’s permanent.
The world of Idyll
You play a Pathfinder in Idyll, a world where the creatures are the point rather than the scenery. The map is divided into fifteen named regions — Beast Fang Ridge, Berylline Causeway, Blitzwood, Crescent Bay, Driftwise Meadow, Echoback Landing, Forest of Falling Stars, Mistwoods, Nimbus Fields, Rosetower Woods, Russet Highlands, Sea of Flowers, The Argent Strait, Tideblossom Coast and Zephyrus Landbridge — and each one has its own roster.
Region matters more than it does in most collectors, because a weather state called Prismana Flow moves between them. While it sits over a region, that region’s rainbow form appears far more often. Some species also split into regional variants with a different element and habitat from the parent line, so “which Aniimo lives here” is a real question rather than a flavour note.
Your own corner of it is Homeland, a farm and base you grow, gather and build on. Since the launch update it spans multiple areas, with house building and furniture layouts you can share by code.
How Aniimo plays
Twining
The system Aniimo is built around. You sync with your creature and use its abilities instead of riding a mount, and how you cross the world depends on which form you’re twined with. In combat it gives you two modes: Command, where the creature fights on its own, and Twine, where you drive its moves directly.
Catching
Creatures are caught with Aniipods — not “spheres”, which is a word borrowed from a different game and does not appear in Aniimo. Better pods raise your odds, and the official footage shows an Aniipod Ultra with a guaranteed-success state and mass catches of seven to ten at once.
Potential and traits
Every creature carries a quality grade and a set of personality axes that shift its stats. Pawprint only names Perfect Potential in its own material; the full ladder players talk about comes from beta footage, so treat the middle grades as community wording rather than official. Two things guarantee Perfect Potential at launch: anything caught with a Sparkling Cube, and the new Umbral Aniimo found in Wild Surges.
Resonance
Per-creature training from level 20 to 60, paid for in Astranites. The Rune system that sat next to it in the beta was removed before launch — any guide still telling you to farm runes was written against the old build.
Prismana
Prismana are rainbow forms, and they show up during Prismana Flow. There are two ways to bring one on: a free path that builds up over repeated catches, and a paid-in-materials path that triggers it outright. Six Prismana are handed out free around launch — which ones are worth it is its own question.
Egg Heist
The three-player PvPvE mode, which picked up a Chaos Mode for launch. Alongside it sit roaming Alpha bosses and a set of Omega bosses unlocked through the Journey quests.
Numbers and thresholds for these systems are being checked against the live game — this section says what each system is, not what it costs. The detail follows in the individual guides.

Aniimo questions, answered
When did Aniimo come out?
16 September 2026 on PC, consoles and Xbox cloud gaming, at 10:00 UTC+8 — that’s 02:00 UTC. The mobile version follows on 23 September 2026.
Is Aniimo free?
Yes. It’s free-to-play on every platform. There are paid packs and a Battle Pass on top of that.
Is Aniimo a gacha game?
Pawprint has never said either way. The executive producer has said it is not one, and the Epic listing carries the ESRB note “Includes Random Items” while the PlayStation listing does not. Anyone telling you gacha was removed is misreading the September dev letter — that removed the Rune system.
What is Twining?
Syncing with your creature to move and fight using its abilities. It replaces mounts, and in combat it lets you either leave the creature to fight on its own or take direct control of its moves.
Which platforms is Aniimo on?
PC via Steam and Epic, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox cloud gaming, and from 23 September iOS and Android. Cross-platform multiplayer works; cross-progression has never been confirmed.
Is Aniimo on Game Pass?
Not in the catalogue — it doesn’t need to be, it’s free. Game Pass members get in-game benefits instead, as a monthly reward pack.
How many Aniimo are there?
The developer’s index lists 95 species across 225 forms; Pawprint described the launch roster as “more than 200”. Every one of them is in the Aniimo Dex.
Is Aniimo on Nintendo Switch?
No. There is no Switch version and none has been announced.
