Celestial Elixir Scrapper

The GW2 Celestial Elixir Scrapper is the engineer's off-meta chemist: every utility slot is an elixir, so your buff buttons are also your heals and your condition cleanse. One set of Celestial gear does everything, HGH turns each elixir into a stack of Might, and the whole kit is a chaotic, self-sufficient jack-of-all-trades. It is not the fastest killer — it is the one that never falls over and never runs out of buttons.

Equipment

Full Celestial — one set, everything, no swapping. Celestial hands you a share of all nine attributes at once, including the Expertise and Concentration that stretch condition and boon duration. That is exactly what an elixir build wants: enough condition damage that your burning and bleeding tick hard, enough Vitality, Toughness and Healing Power that almost nothing kills you, and enough duration on both that your self-boons and conditions stay up on their own. Engineer wears medium armour, so the named ascended Celestial set is the Leatherworker's Wupwup pieces. Exotic Celestial is within a few percent of ascended and is fine for every part of the open world.

Engineer has no weapon swap. Pistol main-hand and pistol off-hand are a single set — five skills of bleeding, burning, poison, cripple and immobilise. Your “second weapon bar” is the Elixir Gun kit: swap to it any time you want range, a healing field, or a panic button. Sigil of Bursting raises all your condition damage; Sigil of Smoldering stretches your burning — the two conditions this build leans on hardest.

The build is forgiving. Rune and relic are the most meta-volatile slots on any build, so sanity-check them against the current patch.

How the build works

One picture for the whole build. Every utility slot is an elixir, and the loop below is what those elixirs set off — press them on cooldown and the boons, damage and sustain look after themselves.

You are not managing a rotation so much as keeping four flasks on cooldown. HGH keeps Might up, Might becomes Fury, Fury becomes crits, crits become burning — and Compounding Chemicals heals and cleanses off the same buttons. Break any one link and the rest still turns.

Skills

Every utility slot is an elixir, and that is the whole point. With HGH each elixir grants Might and lasts longer, and Compounding Chemicals heals you a little every time you give yourself a boon and cleanses a condition every time you use an elixir. Your heal is Elixir H, your elite is Elixir X, and Elixir Gun is a whole second skill bar — Super Elixir for a healing field, Acid Bomb to leap and blast, Fumigate to cleanse.

Traits

Three lines: Firearms for condition crits and burning, Alchemy for the elixir engine and your sustain, and Scrapper for superspeed, barrier and the Function Gyro.

Specialisations 3

How the engine actually works

Firearms is your condition core. Chemical Rounds gives condition damage and stretches the condition duration on your pistol skills, so your bleeding and poison hang around longer.

Crits become a second burning engine. Thermal Vision adds expertise and more condition damage against burning foes, and Incendiary Powder makes your critical hits apply burning and last longer. Between them, every crit is extra burning on top of what your pistols already stack.

HGH is the heart of it. Every elixir grants Might and lasts longer, so five elixirs keep Might up permanently with no dedicated might skill. And the Alchemy minor Compounding Chemicals means every boon you give yourself also heals you while every elixir you press cleanses a condition — your buff buttons are your sustain.

Might turns into Fury, and Fury into crits. Boiling Point grants Fury whenever you gain Might at the cap, so your critical-hit chance stays high with no Precision on your gear — and those crits feed Incendiary Powder. Invigorating Speed then hands you Vigor on Swiftness or Superspeed, refilling your dodges.

Scrapper is your sustain line. System Shocker turns your Function Gyro into a daze and grants barrier whenever you disable a foe, and Ex Machina gives that gyro extra charges with no recharge penalty — a steady drip of barrier on top of all the elixir healing.

And you heal just by moving. Rapid Regeneration heals you the whole time you have Swiftness or Superspeed, which on Scrapper is almost always. The build code above encodes the trait picks this guide uses: High Caliber, Thermal Vision and Incendiary Powder in Firearms; Invigorating Speed, Blast Zone and HGH in Alchemy; Mass Momentum, Object in Motion and Applied Force in Scrapper. They follow the elixir-and-might logic the build is built on rather than a raid-tested template, which is why this page sits at off-meta — treat them as a solid starting point and swap freely.

Rotation

There is no strict rotation. You camp your pistols for conditions and keep the elixirs rolling for boons, heals and cleanse. This is a priority, not a sequence — press play to watch it, or click any step.

Open
Drink Elixir B for Might, Fury & Swiftness — front-load before you engage
Pressure
Pistol skills on cooldown — stack bleeding, burning and poison
Sustain
Any elixir = a heal + a cleanse (Compounding Chemicals). Press them, don’t hoard them
Range / reset
Swap to Elixir Gun — Super Elixir field, Acid Bomb to blast-cleanse, Fumigate
Panic
Elixir U (quickness + stunbreak), or Elixir S for a hard evade
Big fights
Elixir X for a Tornado / Rampage — crowd control and a pressure spike

Blast your own light field. Super Elixir (Elixir Gun 5) drops a light field, and Acid Bomb (Elixir Gun 4) is a blast finisher — blasting your own field cleanses a condition from you and nearby allies, on top of the cleanse Compounding Chemicals already gives you. It is a small, repeatable piece of area cleanse baked into the kit.

Combos and crowd control

Crowd control when you need it. Glue Shot immobilises and then cripples anything caught in the puddle, and Elixir X turns you into a Tornado or Rampage for a burst of launches when a fight needs breaking up.

The damage ramps. Against a champion that takes a while, the conditions do real work; against trash that dies in seconds, it will feel slow. That is the trade for never dying.

Keep moving. Superspeed is not just mobility here — Rapid Regeneration heals you while it is up, and Invigorating Speed turns it into Vigor and more dodges. There is almost never a reason to stand still.

The honest verdict

What it is best at, and what it is not:

This is an off-meta build, and it should be sold as one. The meta open-world Scrapper is power Hammer or a grenade booster — both kill faster. What the elixir version buys you instead is total self-sufficiency: permanent self-boons, condition cleanse on tap, healing baked into your buttons, and a stat set you never change. Take it for long solo fights and condition-heavy zones, not to speed-farm trash.

Best for: solo open world, champions and bounties, and condition-cleanse-hungry content — and anyone who just likes the chemist fantasy of winning by never dying.

Build code

Paste the in-game build template code here. The traits and skills above are generated from this code, so they cannot contradict it — which is why the page is not finished until the real code is in. It has not been captured for this build yet, so the exact trait majors stay provisional.

Questions

Is Elixir Scrapper good for solo open world?

Yes, for what it is — one of the most self-sufficient ways to play engineer. Every elixir grants Might and lasts longer through HGH, and Compounding Chemicals turns each self-boon into a small heal and each elixir into a condition cleanse, so your buff buttons are also your sustain. It is not the fastest killer in the open world — power Hammer Scrapper is — but it almost never dies and never runs out of answers.

Why Celestial stats on a Scrapper?

Because this build wants a bit of everything and Celestial gives a bit of everything. It provides condition damage for your burning and bleeding, Healing Power to make Compounding Chemicals and Elixir H matter, and the Expertise and Concentration that stretch your conditions and your self-boons. One Celestial set covers solo play, condition zones and champions with no gear swapping — which is the whole appeal.

Where does the damage come from?

Conditions, mostly. Your pistols apply bleeding, burning and poison, and Firearms turns your critical hits — kept high by all the Might and Fury you generate — into extra burning. It ramps rather than bursts: against a champion that takes a while it does real work; against trash that dies in seconds it will feel slow.

Is this the meta open-world Scrapper?

No — and it is not trying to be. The meta open-world Scrapper is power Hammer or a Celestial grenade booster, both of which kill faster. This is an off-meta elixir build you run for self-sufficiency and comfort: permanent self-boons, cleanse on tap, and healing built into your buff buttons. Take it because it is unkillable and fun, not because it tops a damage meter.

Do I need ascended gear, or is exotic enough?

Exotic Celestial is completely fine for all of open world and much cheaper to put together. Ascended is a small stat bump plus the agony resistance fractals want — open world never asks for it. Build the exotic set, play the build, and only chase the ascended Wupwup pieces if you decide you want the last few percent.

Which relic should I use?

Relic of the Aristocracy is the damage pick: it grants extra condition duration when you inflict weakness or vulnerability, both of which this build hands out freely. If you want to lean harder into survival, Relic of Durability gives protection, regeneration and resolution after every heal. Relic is one of the most meta-volatile slots in the game, so check it against the current patch.

Where are the elixir skills — can I see the bar?

Yes — the skill bar above is rendered live from the Guild Wars 2 API: Elixir H to heal, Elixir B, Elixir Gun and Elixir U as your utilities, and Elixir X as the elite. Every slot is an elixir, which is the whole point: with HGH and Compounding Chemicals each one grants Might, heals you and cleanses a condition.

About this build

The Celestial Elixir Scrapper is an off-meta, high-sustain engineer build for solo open world in Guild Wars 2. It runs a full set of Celestial gear — a stat prefix that grants a share of all nine attributes, including the Expertise and Concentration that extend condition and boon duration — across the Firearms, Alchemy and Scrapper specialisations, with dual pistols and an elixir-only utility bar. The build is built around HGH and Compounding Chemicals: every elixir grants Might and lasts longer, and every self-boon heals while every elixir cleanses, so your buff buttons double as your sustain. It is a beginner-friendly, chaotic jack-of-all-trades that trades top-end damage for near-total self-sufficiency.

Gear, skills, traits and the diagrams are rendered live from the official Guild Wars 2 API; item and trait names were verified against the API on 3 August 2026. This is an off-meta build assembled from verified mechanics — the in-game build-template code and the exact major-trait picks are still to be confirmed, and the build shifts with each balance patch. Guild Wars 2 and all associated names are the property of ArenaNet and NCSOFT.
