Minecraft Dungeons II
Mojang's co-op dungeon crawler gets a sequel on 29 September: up to four players, gear-based builds and a second world called the Sift.
What Minecraft Dungeons II is
Minecraft Dungeons II is the sequel to Mojang's 2020 dungeon crawler, built together with Double Eleven and published by Xbox Game Studios. You drop the pickaxe, pick a sword and fight through hordes of mobs, alone or with up to three friends. Your build comes from your gear: weapons, armour and artifacts.

worlds: Overworld and Sift
The new part is a place called the Sift. Mojang describes it as a new dimension behind rifts that open across the Overworld, and the story is about stopping a threat in “not one, but two worlds”.
PCGamesN played it at Gamescom and summed it up as a sequel with minor changes to the formula, but welcome ones. That is probably the honest read: if you liked the first game, this is more of it with a second world to explore. If you want a deep action RPG, it does not look like it is trying to be one.
Pick it up if
- You played the first game with friends
- You want a light co-op action game for evenings
Maybe skip it if
- You want deep builds and a long endgame
- You only play solo and want a big story
It is one of the games in our weekly release video, releasing on Tuesday, 29 September. Every other dated game is on the release timeline.
