What is in the Monarchs at Play demo

Monarchs at Play put out its demo on 22 September, and it tries something most strategy games do not: a full 4X match in about an hour. It is made by Emanuel and Eric at MixedMoonGames.

buildings in the demo

The whole game is built around one action: placing buildings. You place your palace, explore, unlock stronger buildings and plan your layout so neighbouring buildings boost each other. Then you trade with your rivals, or go to war with them. Whoever has the most Glory at the end wins. The developers name Civilization, TerraScape and Catan as inspirations.

The demo has full matches: three tutorial missions, a classic mode on generated maps and a challenge mode with three handcrafted missions and a global highscore. You get two of the six monarchs and more than fifty buildings. Earlier this year the game made the finals of GameStar's Find Your Next Game award at CAGGTUS in Leipzig.
