What Order of the Sinking Star is

Order of the Sinking Star is the new puzzle adventure from Jonathan Blow, the designer of Braid and The Witness, and his studio Thekla. It has more than a thousand hand-crafted puzzles across four worlds, each with its own rules.

Later the worlds merge, the characters meet and the puzzle systems start working together. The heroes include a queen, a thief, a warrior, a wizard and a talking boat. Blow describes the approach as a kind of “game design supercollider”: ideas from several puzzle designers combined in one interconnected game, ten years in the making.

It launches at $29.99 on PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 the same day and is Steam Deck Verified. If you played the demo during Steam Next Fest in June 2026, your progress carries into the full game.

It is one of the games in our weekly release video, releasing on Thu 8 Oct. Every other dated game is on the release timeline.
