Palworld is going mobile again — and this time it’s a new game, not a port. Garena and PocketPair have announced Palworld Online, a shared-world multiplayer Palworld for iOS and Android, landing in 2026. Here’s what was actually confirmed, and what we still don’t know.

On 3 August 2026, Garena announced an official licensing agreement with PocketPair, the studio behind Palworld, to develop and publish Palworld Online — a mobile multiplayer survival adventure built on the Palworld IP, coming to iOS and Android in 2026. It has an original story exclusive to the game, gameplay optimised for touch (a touch-friendly UI and optional one-tap controls), and a shared open world where players form parties, build bases and take on multiplayer content together. No gameplay, pricing or exact date has been shown yet.

Garena and PocketPair just announced Palworld Online

Garena is both developer and publisher on Palworld Online, working “in close collaboration with PocketPair.” The pitch is that it reimagines the depth, freedom and scale of the original PC game for phones — a vast, seamless open world where you capture and raise Pals, explore and pioneer new regions, but designed for a touchscreen from the ground up rather than squeezed onto one. Several outlets are already calling it a mobile MMORPG; Garena’s own wording is the softer “multiplayer survival adventure.”

We don’t normally cover mobile here. This one earns the exception: it’s an officially licensed Palworld game from a major publisher, and it’s now the second separate mobile Palworld project in development. That’s a real shift in where the series is heading, and worth putting on the record.

What Palworld Online actually is

Strip the marketing and three things are clear from the announcement.

A new game with its own story

Palworld Online carries an original story exclusive to it — not a re-run of the base game’s campaign. So even with hundreds of hours on the PC version, this is meant to be new ground rather than a replay on a smaller screen.

Built for mobile, not adapted to it

Garena is explicit that the gameplay is optimised for phones: a touch-friendly UI and optional one-tap controls. That’s the line separating a genuine mobile design from a control-scheme afterthought — and the single most important promise to hold them to when footage arrives.

Shared-world and social by design

The whole framing is cooperation and shared growth: meet players from around the world, form parties, build bases together and take on multiplayer content. Palworld’s PC multiplayer tops out at small co-op servers; Palworld Online describes something closer to a persistent, populated world, which is why “MMO” keeps getting attached to it.

How it’s different from Palworld on PC

If you only know Palworld as the survival-crafting game with the “Pok&233;mon with guns” reputation, here’s where Palworld Online diverges. The platform is the obvious one — phones instead of PC and Xbox — but the deeper differences are structural. Palworld is a single-player-or-small-co-op survival game you host yourself; Palworld Online is a publisher-run online game where the servers, the population and the shared world are the point. Palworld tells one story; Palworld Online tells a different, exclusive one. Palworld is a finished 1.0 product you buy once; Palworld Online is a live mobile title that hasn’t shown its business model — which, going by every comparable Garena release, is very likely free-to-play with in-app purchases rather than a one-time price.

Same universe, same Pals-and-bases DNA — different game, and a different way of playing it.

Two Palworld mobile games, not one

This is the part that confuses people, so it’s worth being precise. There are now two separate Palworld mobile projects, from two different companies, and they are not the same thing.

ProjectWhat it is
Palworld Online — GarenaAnnounced 3 August 2026. A new, shared-world multiplayer game with its own story, developed and published by Garena. The game this post is about.
Palworld Mobile — KraftonAnnounced 2 October 2024, when Krafton (via PUBG Studios) secured a global licence from PocketPair. Aimed at a closer translation of the core survival game — the same exploration, breeding and survival loop, on your phone.

So PocketPair is effectively running two mobile strategies in parallel: Garena building an MMO-style shared world, Krafton porting the core experience. If “Palworld mobile” headlines seem to contradict each other, this is why — they’re describing different games.

Release date and pre-registration

The honest answer: there’s no exact release date. Garena has confirmed a 2026 global launch window and nothing tighter — anyone quoting a specific day is guessing. Pre-registration hasn’t opened yet either. What Garena has signalled is the usual mobile run-up: more detailed gameplay reveals, then pre-registration, then closed beta campaigns, all ahead of the 2026 launch.

The next real milestone to watch for is the first gameplay trailer and a pre-registration page going live. That’s when we’ll learn whether the touch controls and the shared world hold up — and when the reward tiers people actually care about get announced. We’ll update this as those land. No invented dates in the meantime.

What we don’t know yet

Everything above is the announcement, not a hands-on. There’s no gameplay footage, no Pal roster, no map details, and no monetisation model — free-to-play is the likely bet given Garena’s catalogue, but it’s unconfirmed. There’s no pre-registration link and no firmer date than “2026.” And the MMORPG label is coming from outlets, not from Garena, whose own description stops at “multiplayer survival adventure.” Treat this as a statement of intent, and hold the touch-controls-and-shared-world promise to the first real footage.

Who it’s for

Palworld fans who want a shared world

Parties, co-op bases and a populated open world are the whole pitch — more social than PC Palworld ever was.

Mobile-first players

Built for touch with optional one-tap controls, not a PC game bolted onto a phone.

Wanting a faithful pocket port

This is a new MMO-style game, not a 1:1 port — Krafton’s separate Palworld Mobile is closer to that.

Allergic to live-service mobile

No price or model is confirmed, but a free-to-play live game with in-app purchases is the likely shape.

Palworld Online FAQ

What is Palworld Online?

A mobile multiplayer survival adventure game based on the Palworld IP, developed and published by Garena under licence from PocketPair. It’s built for iOS and Android, has an original story exclusive to the game, and is designed around a shared open world where players form parties, build bases and take on multiplayer content. It was announced on 3 August 2026.

Is Palworld Online the same as playing Palworld online?

No — and it’s a common mix-up. “Palworld Online” is the name of a brand-new mobile game from Garena, not the online mode of the existing Palworld. The PC and Xbox game already has its own co-op multiplayer; Palworld Online is a separate title with its own story and servers.

When is the Palworld Online release date?

Garena has confirmed a 2026 launch window for iOS and Android but hasn’t announced an exact date. Pre-registration and closed beta campaigns are expected first, so the date will likely firm up as those milestones roll out.

Is Palworld Online free?

Garena hasn’t announced pricing or a monetisation model yet. Based on Garena’s track record with mobile titles, a free-to-play model with in-app purchases is the most likely outcome, but it isn’t confirmed.

What platforms is Palworld Online on?

iOS and Android. It’s a mobile-only game, with gameplay optimised for touch — a touch-friendly UI and optional one-tap controls. No PC or console version has been announced.

Is Palworld Online an MMORPG?

Several outlets describe it as a mobile MMORPG because of its shared open world and multiplayer focus. Garena’s own description is “a multiplayer survival adventure.” Until gameplay is shown, treat “MMO” as fair shorthand rather than a confirmed genre label.

Is this the same as the Krafton Palworld mobile game?

No. There are two separate projects. Palworld Online is Garena’s new shared-world game (announced August 2026). Krafton’s Palworld Mobile (announced October 2024, developed by PUBG Studios) is a separate effort to bring the core Palworld survival experience to phones. Both are officially licensed by PocketPair.

How do I pre-register for Palworld Online?

Pre-registration isn’t open yet. Garena is expected to launch it ahead of the 2026 release, alongside more gameplay reveals and closed beta campaigns. There’s no official sign-up page as of 3 August 2026.
