Celaray No. 007

Water Size M Glider Day & night
◇ Rarity · Common — a coastal regular

Celaray is the Water-element Pal at No. 007 — a flying manta ray that drifts along the Palpagos coastline. It is not a fighter, and it is a mediocre base hand. You catch it for one reason: it is your glider.

Partner skill
Zephyr Glider — with Celaray in your party, your glide is powered by Celaray: no fall damage, and high-speed gliding holds for longer. Unlike most partner skills, this one has hard numbers attached — and they improve every time you condense it.

Celaray hugs the coast. It drifts along the shorelines of the starting region at low level (roughly 2–6), out over the water and the beaches rather than inland. Colder northern coasts hold higher-level ones, around 9–10.

It also appears inside the Hillside Cavern and the Isolated Island Cavern at levels 6–13. The alpha, Soaring Skyfish, patrols those caverns around level 10–13. Celaray drifts rather than charges, so it is an easy capture: chip its health down and throw a regular Pal Sphere.

Stats & how they vary

Defense80
Work speed100

Base values before IVs, passives and condensing. Note the oddity: Celaray's melee (100) outranks its ranged (70), on a Pal whose entire active kit is ranged water attacks. Condense it anyway — not for the stats, but for the glider table above.

Type matchup · Water
Strong vsFire — Water hits Fire Pals for extra damage.
Weak vsElectric hits Water Pals for extra damage.

Base stat shape — solid bulk, weak ranged, tilted hard toward work.
IVsHidden HP/Attack/Defense rolls, locked in when you catch or hatch it — worth up to +30%. Catch a few and keep the best.
Passives0–4 traits (e.g. Swift, Ferocious, Lucky) — the biggest controllable swing, inherited through breeding. 1.0 adds powerful World Tree passives with trade-offs (e.g. +50% attack for weaker defense).
Mutation 1.0Breeding can rarely hatch a mutated Pal with higher stats and a unique passive skill. Deluxe Vegetable Cake raises the odds.
Awakening 1.0Spend Radiant Gems from the World Tree to push a favourite past its old stat ceiling.

LuckyPalworld's "shiny": rare, larger, always carries Lucky (+15% work speed & attack).

Work & drops

Work suitabilities
Watering Lv 1Transporting Lv 1

Two level-1 jobs — Watering and Transporting — make Celaray a serviceable early base hand. It waters berry plots and hauls crates, and it will be outclassed the moment a dedicated Water Pal arrives. Keep it in the party, not at the base.

Drops
Aquatic Pal Fluids

Aquatic Pal Fluids, one to two, every time — the same item Fuack and Azurobe drop. It feeds early Water crafting, but nobody farms Celaray for loot.

Celaray as a glider

This is the part every other Celaray page skips. The glide is not a vague buff — it scales concretely with condensing. Three things move at once: you fly faster, you sink slower (gravity scale), and you burn less stamina.

★1Max speed 600 · gravity 0.016 · stamina drain 10
★2Max speed 750 · gravity 0.014 · stamina drain 8.5
★3Max speed 900 · gravity 0.012 · stamina drain 7
★4Max speed 1050 · gravity 0.010 · stamina drain 5.5
★5Max speed 1200 · gravity 0.008 · stamina drain 4

How it compares. Galeclaw is the speed option — 1000 at one star up to 1700 at five — but its gravity scale is 0.02–0.03, more than double Celaray's. Galeclaw goes fast and drops fast; Celaray goes slower and stays up. For crossing distance rather than covering it quickly, Celaray wins. And either way: no fall damage.

Active skills

A pure Water kit with two detours — light pokes early, real artillery by the end.

Lv 1Hydro Jet — hurls a high-speed ball of water at an enemy.
Lv 7Aqua Gun — hurls a ball of water straight at an enemy.
Lv 15Power Shot — charges energy into a focused blast.
Lv 22Bubble Blast — fires numerous bubbles that slowly pursue an enemy.
Lv 30Seed Machine Gun — fires a volley of hard seeds at enemies in front of it.
Lv 40Aqua Burst — creates a giant ball of water and hurls it at an enemy.
Lv 50Hydro Laser — shoots pressurized water at extreme velocities, sweeping over a wide area in front of it.
Lv 70Geyser Gush — erupts massive pillars of water.

Breeding combos

Celaray hatches from a Damp Egg, and it is common enough along the coast that catching is usually faster. Breeding matters for one reason: the variant.

Unique Celaray + Univolt = Celaray Lux Also hatches from a Damp Egg

Worth knowing first: Celaray Lux is the better glider (1300 max speed at five stars against Celaray's 1200, with lower gravity and less stamina drain) and it adds Generating Electricity Lv 2 on top of Celaray's jobs. If you are going to condense a glider to five stars anyway, condense that one.

The story of Celaray

Its Paldeck entry is unexpectedly melancholy: “Riding the wind, this Pal travels where it pleases. Should it find a partner along the way, the encounter will mark its journey's end.” A wandering Pal that stops wandering the moment it is caught.

In practice it is the opposite of dramatic. Celaray drifts over the shallows, ignores you, and puts up no resistance worth mentioning. Its alpha, Soaring Skyfish, is the only version that fights back — and it does that from inside a cave.

Field notes
— from the log of a Pal keeper

Day 3. Caught a Celaray off the beach. It did not flee, did not fight, simply hung there in the air like a kite someone forgot about. I felt slightly rude.

Day 6. Jumped off the cliff behind camp on purpose, which is not a thing I did before. Walked away from it. I have since jumped off several more cliffs, entirely for research.

Day 22. Condensed it to four stars and went off the plateau again. It holds the line now instead of sagging — I cleared the whole valley in one glide. The first Pal I have improved for how it feels, not what it kills.

Celaray, answered

Where do you find Celaray?

Along the coastline of the starting region, at roughly level 2–6, day or night — it drifts over the shore and the shallows rather than inland. It also spawns in the Hillside Cavern and Isolated Island Cavern at level 6–13, where the alpha (Soaring Skyfish) sits around level 10–13.

What is Celaray's partner skill?

Zephyr Glider — with Celaray in your party, your glide takes no fall damage and holds high-speed gliding longer. The performance is concrete: 600 max speed and 0.016 gravity at one star, up to 1200 speed and 0.008 gravity at five stars.

Is Celaray a good glider?

Yes, and it is the steady one. Galeclaw is faster (1700 at five stars) but its gravity scale is more than double, so it drops out of the sky quicker. Celaray covers distance; Galeclaw covers ground fast.

Is Celaray any good in a fight?

No. Its melee (100) is higher than its ranged attack (70) despite a fully ranged kit. Catch it for the glide, not the damage.

Was Celaray renumbered in Palworld 1.0?

Yes. Celaray was No. 025 before 1.0 and is No. 007 now. Guides still listing #025 are running on Early Access data.
