Herbil
Where to find Herbil in Palworld (the Tides of Terraria isles), how its Herbil Pulse partner skill revives you when you go down, plus the reliable breeding pair, stats, skills and drops.
Herbil No. 010
Herbil is the Grass/Neutral Pal at No. 010 — a leaf-tailed flying squirrel that arrived with the Tides of Terraria update. You will still be carrying it fifty hours later. Not because it fights well. Because when you go down, it brings you back.
Where to find Herbil
Herbil arrived with the Tides of Terraria update, and that is where it lives — the three tropical isles that update added: Oasis Isle (east of the Desiccated Desert), Sunlit Isle (just south of Marsh Island) and Eternal Summer Isle, which hosts the Sealed Realm of Terraria. Across them it spans a wide band, from roughly level 1–10 on the easiest to 32–50 on the hardest, day and night.
The game data also places it on the mainland: in the green country around level 5–7, in colder territory at 10–15, and in the Mountain Stream Grotto at 22–25, where the alpha — Percussive Maintenance — patrols around level 27–29. It takes normal damage when wild, so chip it down and throw a regular Pal Sphere.

Stats & how they vary
Base values before IVs, passives and condensing. A middling line, and it does not matter. At level 80 it lands at 4,100–5,060 HP, 550–685 Attack and 500–635 Defense. Condense it anyway — for the revive, not the stat sheet.
Work & drops
Three jobs, all level 1. Herbil is a perfectly adequate early base hand and will be outclassed at every one of those stations eventually. That is fine — you are not keeping it for the farm.
Both every time. The Wheat Seeds matter more than they look: wheat gates Bread, and Bread gates not starving. A guaranteed seed drop from a Pal you meet early is a real head start on a farm.
Partner skill: Herbil Pulse
Most partner skills make you slightly better at something. This one decides whether a fight ends.
And the lore explains the mechanic, which almost never happens here. Herbil's Paldeck entry reads: “When in doubt, punch it till it works — that's Herbil's approach to fixing things. With strength perfectly tuned for humans, sometimes just one punch is enough to restart a stopped heart.” Its alpha is called Percussive Maintenance — the engineer's term for hitting a machine until it behaves. Herbil does not heal you. It punches your heart back into rhythm.
Active skills
A pure Grass kit with one Neutral detour — and one move nobody else has.
Reflect Leaf is the sleeper. Four ricochets off enemies or trees means it does far more than its 400 power suggests in a forest fight — which is exactly where you find Herbil.
How to breed Herbil
Herbil hatches from a Verdant Egg. It has no unique combination, so the child is decided by averaging both parents' internal breeding rank — the pairing has to land on Herbil's rank of 2630 and beat every other Pal to it.
Flopie sits at 2660, Croajiro at 2600 — their average is 2630, which is Herbil's rank exactly. No Pal is closer, so the pairing lands every time. And Croajiro is your direct neighbour at No. 009.
A warning about the pairs listed elsewhere. Guides commonly put Herbil + Mau Cryst, Herbil + Jelliette and Herbil + Chikipi under Herbil's breeding section. None of those produce a Herbil. Run the ranks: they give Bristla, Leezpunk Ignis, and a Ribbuny/Jolthog Cryst coin flip. Those are pairings where Herbil is the parent — they answer “what can I make with a Herbil”, not “how do I get one”.
The story of Herbil
Palworld usually hides something bleak behind something cute. Herbil is the rare case where it hides something sweet behind something violent.
Its solution to every problem is to hit it. Broken machine? Hit it. Stopped heart? Hit it — and here the game is careful to add “with strength perfectly tuned for humans”, which is the closest Palworld ever comes to tenderness. The alpha is named after the engineer's oldest trick. The revive is not magic; it is a very small squirrel performing CPR the only way it knows how.
Day 8. Caught a leaf squirrel. It immediately attacked the generator. The generator started working. I have questions.
Day 19. Died to an alpha. Woke up. Herbil was standing on my chest looking extremely pleased with itself and my ribs hurt in a specific, targeted way.
Day 41. Condensed it to five stars. I now come back up at more than half health, which has turned three lost boss fights into three won ones. It has also punched the fridge twice. The fridge is fine.
Herbil, answered
Where do you find Herbil?
On the three Tides of Terraria isles — Oasis Isle, Sunlit Isle and Eternal Summer Isle — across a level band from roughly 1–10 to 32–50, day or night. The game data also places it in the mainland green country around level 5–7 and in the Mountain Stream Grotto at 22–25 (alpha at 27–29).
What is Herbil's partner skill?
Herbil Pulse — when you are incapacitated, Herbil revives you with 30–60% of your Max Health, scaling with condensing. Effectively a second life.
Is Herbil worth keeping?
Yes, and longer than almost anything else you catch this early. Its stats are ordinary; its revive is not. It is the cheapest insurance in the game.
How do you breed Herbil?
Flopie + Croajiro — their breeding ranks average to exactly Herbil's (2630), so the pairing lands every time. Ignore the commonly-listed “Herbil + Mau Cryst / Jelliette / Chikipi” pairs: those are combinations where Herbil is the parent, and they produce Bristla, Leezpunk Ignis and a Ribbuny/Jolthog Cryst coin flip respectively.
Does Herbil have an exclusive skill?
Yes — Konoha Flip at Lv 30, a charging attack that finishes with a flip. No other Pal learns it.
What does Herbil drop?
Leather and Wheat Seeds, one of each, every time. (Some guides also list Red Berries. The current 1.0 game data shows only these two — and it does list sub-100% drops for other Pals, so the omission looks deliberate.)
Was Herbil renumbered in Palworld 1.0?
Yes, and more dramatically than any Pal we have catalogued. Herbil was No. 141 before 1.0 and is No. 010 now.
